……..tom i see your in monterey, if i drove out to you do you think you could take a look at it to give me an idea?
currently my testing equipment and injection books are in storage, so i can't do it right now, but if all it is is a cold start problem, then grab the car and join us over at BFC in the E21 forum. there are several guys there that have this system down to the science and we can sort it out for you. the cars are great fun (although i think the E30 is a little better), and for $500 it's a good buy.
E21's are cool, but be aware they have major fucking short commings.
Cable speedo. 168mm diff (small case). Drum rear brakes. Sourcing parts for a swap are wayyyy harder than on an E30....ugh I could go on but no..
speedo cable? never had a problem, but that's an easy fix.
small case diff - seeing how the M10 puts out 105 ft-lb of torque, how could it be a problem? unless you're doing burnouts and that is not what the e21 was designed for.
drum brakes - as long as you keep them adjusted (no auto adjust) and run a shoe like ferodo, they are more then adequate. i can easily lock my 205/60 HP tires. so there is no reason to swap.
all parts are available new from the usual sources. after market HP parts are fewer but can be had.
for the record, Kjet is not gay, it's a very easy and simple injection setup that most gays don't understand.
Actually yes, kjet is the gay. Fucking overly complicated shit pile (Warm up cycle is what I'm referring to) having random filaments that get heated up which then changes air/fuel ratio is whack mang. ;-)

Unless you score a 323 subframe/ 245 trans (E21 323, which is a weak transmission to begin with) /driveshaft/ 6 cyl cluster blah blah blah this isn't very easy. A welder becomes your friend very quickly.
If you plan on throwing any real amount of power through the car while running half decent tires you'll need to change the rear diff (custom fab work required) and use an E30/E36 tranny which mean you need an electronic speedo...so on and so forth.
speedo cable? never had a problem, but that's an easy fix.
No the cable speedo isn't a problem in and of itself...But finding transmissions that work with the E21 cluster is. You can't just throw in a G260 or ZF and have a working speedo, ya know....

Dude the M10 sucks balls unless you're tubo'ing it or dumping huge amounts of money into an NA setup. Swapping engines is the most logical decision for a more responsive, easier to maintain engine. The money:results is much nicer looking on swaps than building up an M10 as well.

Meh, while what you say is true, drums just aren't a good as disks. And there are only really three options for getting rear disks on an E21; Find/buy 323 trailing arms, buy the massive setup, do a custom setup.

Again M10s are just a money pit. IMO. And to swap require fab skills and equipment, which the OP doesn't have (no offense Spencer)
And tom, here is my E21. I'm doing my build thread on r3v since my first car was an E30 and r3v fostered my car problem, so I feel a connection to this site.
