Directed at the OP now: What is your budget that you are willing to spend? I know with my first older GF(7 years ago) I got her a Opel necklace(birthstone) for a grand total of 90.00 on sale from 250. I went all out with a big box and did 3 layers of clear colored paper in between 4 layers of clear plastic wrapping. Then used some fancy string to lace it up tight(no tape). She went nuts and cried =)

To be honest it is ALL in the wrapping! So get creative and spend sometime making it a treat to open. Not just to get at what you bought.
