TG - Who here wants Ariel Atom 2?!?!

For those who saw Top Gear last night.

I mean... JESUS! I would totally make that car my daily driver on good weather days if I could get into one for less than $25k. That thing is awesome! Almost as fast around a track as a Ferrari Enzo. I just don't think I personally could justify spending $50+k on one in my current financial state... but I would abso-fucking-lutley buy one over a porsche, lambo, or ferrari... I'd buy one over a corvette which is closer to its loaded price.

Plus, the Noble has had my thumbs up for best british sports car for awhile, but now I think it is second to the Ariel Atom 2.

Anybody in America R3V good at welding? Start our own car building company... unfortunately the British pound is rocking the world so it will be awhile till the price of these cars come down any. I mean... fiberglass... tubular shell... 2.0L supercharged honda vtec motor... Autronic engine management... you can pretty much piece the best shit together. Unfortunately I don't know dick material and automotive engineering... and I know plenty about intellectual property and copyright infringement :|

Still... I'd make one just for my own.

I was just thinking that myself.

I know the Ariel isn't new to the boards here from a search, but man... what a car.... i need to win the lottery a couple times just so that I can putz around in the garage making my own super car.

I always wanted a motorcycle but was afraid of not being able to control myself in a turn (or straight line)... me like this "car" very much... must... get one.

Why limit it to domestic? I'd take this over just about any sports car ever. even just the 220 or 245hp version...

i've seen the site- what i read was found here:

As we looked over the UK-produced Atom, which is what all our testing is based on, we discussed some of the changes to be made for US production. The most major topic up in the air is engine choices. According to Brammo, securing the Honda JDM K20A-R Spec motors seems bleak due to supply issues, and that if any motor from Honda will be supplied it will be the up and coming K variant of the 2006 Honda Civic Si domestically made. As of 9/5/2005 it looks like Honda will be supplying the K20z3 DOHC i-vtec motor, which should make at least 210HP or up to 230HP in stock form with a supercharged version as well. Equally important is that General Motors has been very helpful in supplying variants of the ECOTEC line up. The US made Atom will likely carry several versions, including a supercharged version of the 2.4L engine powering the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky.

When I buy a car with a sticker price above 20 it will be that car, or the Atom 3 if it is renamed with 500 bhp.

500hp would be stupid. you'd need bigger brakes, wheels, tires, suspension, etc, and you'd lose a lot of the appeal IMHO.

running every other car with just 300hp is a lot cooler than doing it with 500hp....
