The first-gen Cadillac CTS ('02-'05) was offered with a Getrag 260 transmission. Think they have the same configuration? If they're the same as they were 25 years ago, they must have engineered and manufactured a gem back then.
i wonder if anyone who buys the CTS actually knows its RWD. And the fact that a manual is offered these days in a caddy utterly amazes me and makes me happy.

A local shop (German Transaxle) said that the 260 is one of the best boxes that Getrag ever built. It was also used in the 1996-2004 Holden Commodore. But according to a thread on Unofficialbmw, the bellhousing may be different.
Here's something interesting after doing a little research on this:
When the CTS first hit the market, it was offered with a 5L40-E automatic transmission or a 5 speed Getrag 260 manual transmission. In 2005, the Getrag 260 manual transmission was replaced with an Aisin AY-6 six-speed manual, which provided a better fit for the CTS.
So, is it possible that this box might be able to bolt up to an M20/M50/S50 and be a viable six-speed option for an E30?
I doubt that the GM V6 had the same hole pattern, but with a custom bell housing it might be an interesting 6speed mod.
Does anyone have any more info on this?
We will be pulling the engine and trans to do heads, cam, timing cover, headers, and a clutch on my friends GTO starting this weekend. Same as a Commadore, correct?
Is so, i will take pics and measurements if wanted to.

It needs to be the 3.2l Opel motor, the LSx family has a different bell housing pattern.
fo real?
i take it you must have an auto (gay unless your 5toes) or your balls are non-existent.
your saying you wouldn't want a 6 speed e30
Not really necessary on any of the popular swap motors until you get to the S54. Engines that don't have a big top-end to take advantage of will likely be slower due to the extra shifting. There is a reason lots of fast drag cars use a powerglide, 1 shift.
More gears are oriented toward high-reving power plants, not engines with a healthy torque curve.
Hence a 7-spd DST in the new M3 due to 3600lbs and 295lb-ft of TQ.
Keep trolling away little one.
