My buddy has 2 190 Cossies, and they are pretty sweet. Both have dogleg 5 spds. One is stored at my shop right now. And yes, the parts are quite a bit more costly than BMW parts. I would never want to own one over an E30 although they are neat/attractive cars

I would drive a 190e just so that I would appreciate my e30 more.

That last one is not bad, I would drive one and see how I like it but they have never been my "thang"

If lucky, the E36 will die peacefully, in its natural habitat, and be given the prestigious honor of donating its parts to an E30

Always wanted one, just not right now. I will after I'm done owning a 2002.

I like them, the 2.3 16 in particular but they do look good. They were popular in the 80s as well with amg kits and wheels they were the baller cars. I happen to like the e30 better though. They just struck me as the more sporty model.

I've had friends own both a 190E and a W124, I would buy the W124 over the 190E any day. The 190E was underpowered and downright small. I'm 6'2" and could never get comfortable driving that thing. The W124 was smooth and comfortable.

I passed up a 2.3 16V for $700. I felt it was a parts car and didnt know what they even brought in prices, so i left it sit. I think a month later it was gone.

That's insane... Yeah they ripped in DTM but 190's always sucked right out of the box.

Most E30s need a bit of work before they're really fun to drive, and it's no different for the W201. The car really comes alive when you do some basic upgrades to the suspension (springs, dampers, and sways) and add a proper wheel/tire combo.

It's easy to mix-and-match certain parts from other Mercedes models, especially wheels, sways, and brakes. For example, the 4-piston Ate or Brembos calipers from the 400E/500E bolt right up.

As far as looks go, all you really need to do is black out the grille and swap in some Euro headlights and the car looks badass:

Been thinking about a Mercedes lately, but I think I am going to go the turbo diesel route.

And some how the e30 doesn't suffer from such same restrictions then? Im 6'1" (mostly in the legs) and I feel it to be spacious as long as there is only one more passenger.... and im not trying to haul parts around ;D
