    I've got 2 manuals.

Try finding them with rack and pinion steering or EFI.

    Whats up buddy

First one I bought was this 93 2.3 8 valve auto with 105k miles for $1500. I had to replace the headgasket on it due to a slow oil leak. Its now running Megasquirt 1 and I'm hoping the slushbox dies soon so I can swap in the 5 speed I have sitting in the garage.

Second one is a 92 2.6 manual with 155k when I bought it. Found it for $850 some rear end damage. Bent it back into shape and replaced the tail lights and trunk lid. Its been converted to MS2, added 4 pot brakes from a late 300e and most of the suspension is new. This car can cover 800 miles in a day no sweat. Currently working on a manual rack and pinion conversion for it. I already depowered the steering box. I'm thinking about a 16 valve M111 swap in the near future. We'll see.

So is the 190e the new E30? No, not by a mile. It was built with a very different set of qualities in mind like comfortable seats, quiet cabin and smooth suspension. It would take a lot of work to bring a 190e to E30 standards of driving fun. I consider it a challenge.

I've been interested in the 16v 190 longer than I've been into e30's..I'll admit that. But the problem is FINDING one first, then FINDING one that isn't priced by a quack... 25k+. I love the sound of the 16v. All you can hear is the induction and it's beast!

Theyre actually pretty well built. Have their own little quirks, but so does the e30..

Im a little partial to them, my dad has owned 10 of em.. He's that guy in the neighborhood that has 4 cars of the same model in the driveway/garage, that all the neighbors complain about. A couple deisel cars, one with 500k+..

.Kind of the way i am with bmw's now..

No rack and pinion, K-Jet, and funky mirrors. Those mirrors seriously bother me. I love how the guy above has both his 190's on MS.

Anyone know what an engine rebuild would run for one of these Cosworths?

A whole hell of a lot of money.

considering it's a german 2.3 liter dohc engine, i'd figure at least m42 cost. but most likely s14 money. hey, it's a race engine, right?

it's funny though, that the 2.3-16 has about the same power as a 325i.

The price difference between the 16v and other W201s is laughable. The 16v has a lot more in common with the regular 2.3 and 2.6 than the E30 M3 does with other E30s. If you want a fast W201 get a 2.6 and swap a 3.0 or 3.2 or 3.6 24v engines. These sellers pop up on CL seeing $$$$ because OMGLOLWTF its just like an E30 M3 FTMFW!

                    Bitch please.

There's a clean 16v that had "timing chain" failure on Phx craigslist.. $2300.. Clean chassis!
Wondering if the engine is toast since I don't know anything about them.
