The Anime Chat Thread (Nerd Warning)

Back in the day it was DBZ and Pokemon.
Tried some that were reviewed as "must watch"...

• Gurren Lagann - can't understand why people like this, I sat through 8 or 9 episodes to give it a chance.
• Cowboy Bebop - boring. Stylish and unique, yes. Overrated? YES.
• Fullmetal Alchemist - breathtaking

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Code Geass... I loved it.

Gurren Lagann is an anime that is full of plot holes and odd plot devices, yet makes for an amazing experience. It's really so bad it's amazing. It's kinda one of those "feel good" anime's. The whole good will always triumph over evil. It's not complex but it's good that it isn't. It's just an overall amazing experience to behold.

Bebop is amazing in that the whole anime is a culture. Everything about it is just so damn well tied together that it's a sensory experience. There is so many hidden details and devices that really make it so amazing.

Code Geass is also on my favorites. Lelouch is one of the most well rounded and developed characters I have seen. It's definitely a show that you love one minute, and love to hate the next.

I guess I'm a fan of bad anime though. I seem to enjoy what most "hardcore" fans call garbage...

ehh, guren lagann was pretty intense. i watch crap anime too. but guren lagann. towards the end. i was like wtf is going on. space ships. wtf wtf.

I absolutely LOVE Gurren Lagann, but it's not a super deep, intense, or meaningful anime. It's just a bunch of feel good ass kicking.

can't get in to newer anime, last new one I saw that I liked was hellsing and samurai champloo which ever came last.

side note I love anime in games like xenogears. but xenosaga was a big dissapointment both the game and anime

i was watching a cowboy beebop marathon and fell asleep on the sofa....
my gf finds me, and corrected me to say " T.V. is watching you" (in a russian accent from a asian girl..so funny, b/c i was doing the russian joke thing to her all last week)
