    Guys,

Before we hop on the critical path bandwagon here we need to identify the stakeholders.

Agreed with the hate on "shoot me an email/text/call." My friend who has a new fancy office job says that all the time to me, his friends, and women he meets. It makes him sound like a big tool when he says it to females. They rarely "shoot" anything his way.

I'm sure they understand you've got a lot "on your plate" already. They just wan't to make sure you "get your ducks in a row".

My chem class is doing beta testing with this online textbook thing and they had us do a survey in which one of the questions asked us to pick our favorite name for the book from a list they had compiled. These are some of the options...

    - OWLBook
    - OWL Fusion
    - OWL Synergy
    - OWL Integrated

I chose OWLBook because the other ones sounded like some crazy Russian bird fusion shit.

I suppose you'd defend irregardless too? There are a lot of shitty words that make it into dictionary.com because people use them often. It does not validate them and should not be encouraged. We'll put this in the "parking lot" for later consideration. From a 30,000 foot view, it is all the same bull shit.

These cliche expressions are becoming obnoxious as well:
A broken clock is right twice a day
A high tide rises all boats
    Low-hanging fruit
    Leave money on the table
    Run it up the flagpole

To your point, I have heard "impacted" used by many IT types when they shoot out their mass email announcements. To piggy-back off of that, those changes are often necessary to allow the mission-critical action-items to be completed. Otherwise, things may need to be tabled for a bit rather than growing the business. And that would impact our metrics something fierce.

    Its a real word.
I use it when describing how many users rebooting a server will affect.
