Police here can be pretty bad.

My friends older brother is a lieutenant and when we were 15 and 16 we used to go party with the local police force. They would get so completely fucked-up drunk, get us drunk, even though we were way under-aged, and "teach us how to drift" in cop cars, around local schools and neighborhoods..

Then those same cops would arrest people we knew for the littlest and most unfounded offenses.

Our city got a huge federal grant for "pedestrian and bicyclist safety", which they used to buy a bunch of new weapons, segways for the downtown cops to prance around on and give tickets for ignorant reasons.

When that grant was given I was working bicycle delivery downtown. Within two days we had 9 out of our 15 employs get 164$ tickets for "biking on the side-walk", which included pulling your bike up on the side-walk to get off so you don't get hit by a car in the road. The bike-cops continued to ride their bikes on the side-walks while this went on and to this day. Not to mention they would ride their new segways on the sidewalks, racing a lot of the time.

I could tell dumb stories about our cops all day.. We have some good ones, but for the most part they are irresponsible, ignorant and a pain in the ass.

I don't even want to talk about driving here.. They'll ticket you for going a mile or two over a lot of places around here.
    Different strokes for different folks.

For around me in upstate NY I have zero issues with doing a burnout or stuff in parking lots. There is a Lowes that allows us to do car shows and some burn outs later etc. Cop came over and line locked, good times =)

That last video is funny, I would beat that fat ass if I found him. Good thing he gave his face away to the "Hoons" lol

I basically just want to make a 10 year plan, to move to a country where i can keep my quality of living, work in the same field (IT) and not have to give up as many freedoms as we do in Australia.

Of course if im doing 120 in a 60 or drag racing in busy streets or drifiting around i expect to get a ticket. but i want to live in a place where i could take a unregistered just built project car for a slow test drive in a private street (or even just reverse it onto the road to park it), i want to be able to take off from the lights without getting impounded. I dont want to be seen by the public as a criminal or murder. And i dont want to get targeted and pulled over, and be forced to pay for smog tests e.t.c. just because my car looks modified.

USA fit that bill? i love the lifestyle/TV you guys have too.. but i just cbf living in a nanny state anymore.

UK is basically land of the road going race cars. Also, super cheap E30's, Escorts, Escort Cosworths etc.

My plan is to move there one day.

I've noticed the guys who drive imports here get more of an evil eye on them from the cops then guys who drive domestic cars do... Unless you're acting like a complete ass, then it dont really matter lol.

Speeding is speeding. Just saying. I do it, if I get pulled over for 1mph over or 20, it's still the same, speeding. The fines are different, but the citation is still speeding.

We do have some stupid laws in Aus. How about getting a tick for accellerating to fast, I could take off from the lights and not spin my tires or break the speed limit, but still get a tick because I moved to fast.

The problem is the media. Having stories about "hoons" brings in the audiance and is easy to report on. I agree with who every said that we need to get involved with the local council and work with them to build the tracks. But that still wont change the crazy laws we have to deal with.

A person can be charged for "hooning" before be proven guilty. In Australia the law is clear on the fact that all people are inocent until proven guilty, yet some how "hoons" are not?

I am not condoning "hoon" I think it is stupid, bu the changes and they have made to the law to catch "hoons" is not on.

Someone local who was chage then proved him self inocent

You can get pulled over for taking off from a light in the USA also. Sure I've done it, not in a long time because I fear for my freedom driving a car anymore. Fucking get pulled over for just about anything it seems like these days.

My friend and I got pulled over about 2 years ago. We had just passed a cop that was getting back in his car after giving someone else a ticket, he then proceeds to turn the lights on and pull me over and give both my friend and I a ticket for not wearing our seat belts. 100 dollars a piece. Dude had a big grin on his fat fucking bald head.

IMO, I think the cops around here actually just drive around early in the morning with sirens blazing to intimidate people. I hear them every morning and I do not live in an even remotely bad area or even a bad town for that matter. It's unreal.

The driving while black comment made me laugh. I currently live in a very upscale city that is on the other side of Lake Washington from Seattle. For the most part, the people here are wealthy and so the police department is over staffed and they make a serious point of being ass holes. My step sister is training to be a 911 dispatcher and she recently went on a ride along with a Bellevue officer. It was late at night, and the officer pulled behind a car, ran the plates and saw that the tabs were expired. But because it was really late and the car had three or four young black males, the officer decided to not pull over the car. I find that to be very disturbing... if he is afraid to pull over a legitimate law breaker, then he shouldn't be an officer. I sure wouldn't want that guy protecting me with my life on the line... I would rather have a small, weak woman officer with some balls than that waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles.

(Nothing to do with "hooning", whatever the hell that is).
