    Mercedes 190e??

Has anyone ever owned/workedon/driven a 190e? I was showing my gf some of them and she seems to think she wants one now. I was just trying to get some thoughts/experiences on the 190e. she want a manual, and she has the go fast bug.
    What are your guys thoughts?

They break. 1970s engine management. Wouldn't touch one unless it's a 5sp and something special (Cosworth, etc).

Everything you need to know about the 190e.

I had one, It was the ugly faded tan/yellow and we rebaged it as BENNY$. Ended up driving over a rock and broke the oil pan. I was impressed with how log it ran with no oil, although when ever rocks flew up into the crank the engine would bog down a bit but BENNY would keep on going.

Good cars, I think they look great with wheels and a little low.

Would own one if I could find a decent one.

I want a cosworth, i wouldn't buy anything else. Unless it was an evo edition. My gf is just looking for something fun and fast, it's between the 190e and mk2 GTI

The late model 2.6 are pretty nice cars. The biggest problems I know of are the A/C in general (not the heater), and the windows/locks of course.

I've got a 190 diesel. That car itself is slow as shit (60hp). Everything is pretty much vaccum power = pain in the ass. Breaks easily, but honestly I love it. I've had a 87 300 turbo diesel. Most fun ever had in a merc. Nothing like blowing clouds at the car behind you. Haha

A well sorted gti will be much quicker and cheaper to maintain. Loads easier to work on too and a large aftermarket for parts and accessories.

The 190e is a nice car but isn't in the same category as the gti. The cosworth Benz would be great but they arent cheap and are hard to come by.
