Hmm. I didn't realize they were that far apart in performance. I have never driven a Miata in anger, only "normal" street driving around town between red lights.

How do they compare as far as overall times on a road course? Obviously each road course is different... but is there a significant difference in their abilities?

    Definitely gonna try one.

^Go to various tracks and compare Spec E30 times vs Spec Miata times.

For what it's worth, I think the Miata is easier to work on than an E30 as well.

I had a '93LE for about a year or so...loved it. Tons of clubs around, mostly old guys though. Having said that, I ditched it, got an e30, and never looked back.

My Mom misses driving it more than I do.

What about 5-speed versus 6-speed? Noticeable difference, or not really? Kinda liking the NB's over the NA's.

6 speeds are geared crazily short IIRC. I'd probably go for an NB over an NA depending on your budget. Mine was "as cheap as possible" since I knew I was going to build a track rat.

But for what a decent 94-97 car costs with a torsen, it's worth it to tack on another $1-3k and find a nice NB. 01+ all came with sport brakes (have them on my '90)......and nearly everything underneath the car is interchangeable between 90-05.........basically the body and interior changed. I think the NB's also get slightly better steering geometry.

What kind of budget? What are you wanting to do with it?

I paid $2500 for an all original 120k mile '90 last October, between brake upgrade, suspension work (poly bush, V8R upper front control arms, FM Vmaxx coilovers and FM Sways), safety equipment, wheels/tires, rebuilt hubs front and rear with ARP studs, I've probably got another $3500 or so in it, maybe more.

Man, I need to look at importing from the states, a real dog may set you back $4500.00 here, with the average starting price of $6500-7000 for a decent first gen Miata.

              you guys have it good.

They're not that different. I own both. The Miata is slightly quicker in a straight line and the steering is better, but I feel like the 318 is a bit easier to drive hard.

Multi million? They should probably hire a better designer and someone who knows how to use a measuring device so the wheels actually fit next time.

                                lol. NO!

Also, I drove a spec Miata on a track the other week. Thing was fantastic to drive and outpaced my friends e46 M3 by a long shot
