    Woodworking thread

I did a search and nothing showed up that was made for straight out posting of your builds. So I thought I would make one to share my current projects.

Anyone else that builds POST UP!

80-200grit sandpaper to get from rough to smooth.

Limb is natural on the left and chiseled on the right. And Hans getting lessons 8)

Each leg has to be hand carved to fit, not something that happens fast haha.

Legs all carved and table perfectly level. Notice how they stick through the top? Belt sander will fix that.

Top of the legs have been sanded down with a 80 grit belt sander. And you can notice the cross members and pins in the legs. Reason for that is it keeps the legs in place if it was ever ran into etc. This table is 100% free of glue and screws.

Dowels cut flush and sanded smooth. That stuff on the top is sandable/stainable woodfiller for the seams.

Can notice how the pins retain the top. The way the top of the table is held down is from the pressure of the way the cross member dowels bow to suck the top down.

      Here is the finished product:
11 coats of polyurethane on the black cherry top, with 400g sanding after each coat. Golden oak was used on the maple legs to give an aged look. Two coats on them.

I do like how the cross member sits, reminiscent of a battering ram. Where did you get the top anyway? Overall, pretty cool!

Came from a tree that my Uncle cut down for his garage(planks). This is the discard outer section from squaring the logs. I just debarked it and let it cure for a year. Legs were baked in the sun for about 2 months.

built this bastard the year after I graduated college...sadly my brother took it with him to college and it got destroyed. This is the only picture I have of it, but the finished version had the Celtics logo in the middle and some more decals along the sidelines.

It is an '1:something I forget' replica done pretty accurately. Used 3/4 birch plywood, built a typical frame underneath and used 5/16" parquet tiles glued down. Finished it had about 50 coats of a combination of poly and lacquer.

I haven't done anything in a really long time, but here is some of the stuff I've done.
                  Ash pencil holder.

A change dish that started out much larger but kept flying apart on the lathe. Its made of Birch, Walnut and Mahogany.

                  Walnut and Mahogany box

This is the last thing I built. Mahogany and Ipe

Redwood burl and walnut pencil holder.

Mahogany, walnut, and red cedar Stave bowl. The sides of this are scary thin.

Toothpick holder. It started out as a much larger project, but kept breaking apart on the lathe. Someone else started the project and then threw it away after it broke apart a couple times. I picked up the remains and this is the result.

I've also got a big chess board made of solid walnut and oak, as well as a really small one made of walnut, mahogany and redwood. I don't have pics of those however.

                            Wish I made more man.

I had 3 extra that I was planning on selling/giving away, but they got stolen in class.
