As someone that has owned many vw's I will definitely agree with Rich and the others that the vw interiors are shit. Without a fail every single vw i have owned or that is in my family has had issue with the interior starting to deteriorate and come apart. That being said i love the new tdi's

Were any of these VW's built in Germany like the Rabbit/later Golfs were?

I can understand problems with the pre 07 stuff, but not after since they are all built in Germany incl. the 07+ Rabbit
