As a professional motorcycle mech (primary Ducati) among other things for the 15 years or so, i have ridden just about everything and back to back.

What you dont realize is that the 1000 has more torque so it feels faster. The lap times for comparable 600s and 1000s at Road Atlanta is only half a second different.

I had two customers that bought a hayabusa and a gsxr750 and went to the drags. Guess who won? The one with 40 less horsepower that feels WAY slower.

Yes, lots of ferrari owners cry about maintenance, so do porsche owners, ducati owners, etc. It's person , not the machine. If they have more than one vehicle in the shop at the same time the tears just flow.

I'm not out here leaning so low that I scrape my knees, bitches are drawn to em, hence I have one. Chicago's a big grid anyway. I don't' want to die on this thing trying to show someone I'm no a squid. Having said that it is fun as hell and I did manage to put 3k miles on that R1 in about 1 month and another 500 on the CBR.

    This explains a lot.

If you really don't want to die, you will wear a helmet. I would highly recommend you sign up for rider safety/instruction classes preferably at a racetrack so that you will know how to not die when you (god forbid) need to put your lonely chicken strips to work.

You choose your risks in life, have fun and stay safe.

No this is what I do realize. My buddy on a 600 keeps up with me just fine. If I ever go down out there its not going to be because I was on a 1000.

I blew more money on those wheel picture above than most of R3V has paid for there car. I'm never crying about maintenance. Cost of riding a Ducati

Most of the above statement is right. Except I'm never draggin knees

I never thought I'd catch so much flack for riding a 1000. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't the guys who stunt or the guys who ride seriously hard (like the one's on mullholland drive) take more risks than someone who just trolls around?
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

It's the internet. Tattoos and bikes seem to bring out the biggest group of namby-pamby self important whiners and hypersensitive old women into threads.

Honestly, bike threads crack me up. "YOU'RE STARTING ON SOMETHING OTHER THAN A 23 HP 250cc BIKE? YOU WILL DIIIIIIIIIEEEEE" Every ATGATT stay-puft marshmellow man on an '85 Virago 250 seems to trip over themselves to regale you with stories of death, death I tell you!.

Bikes have these cool features on them, on the right hand side of the handle there's this little analog device that allows you to meter out how much power the engine is providing at any given time. It's pretty badass.

Yes, a litrebike will run you into the back of a parked car faster. It won't make you swing too wide on a turn into oncoming traffic, dump you on wet leaves or have a car turn in front of you at a light because they weren't looking any more than a 600 though.

Mitigate risk. Wear your helmet, dummy. Wear a jacket with a proper CE backpad, wear gloves. Wear boots if you like your ankles.
                    -Charlie
Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

True words. It's all about self (throttle) control.

                      Also, dont ride like this:

only reason to get a bike is for the city parking or keeping it at a track for racing, otherwise not really a reason for it. They aren't chick magnets unless you like stupid/fake bitches.

                        PS remove those dumb stickers.

This is kind of absurd. It's like saying a 200hp E30 is just as safe as a 320 hp E30. Which is safer?

The less power, the more control you have. Of course in a track there is not much difference. It is not tje wreck in a straight line, or even on a course that will get you. It's the corrections, because a car jerks in to your lane, or you overcompensate and come in too hot.

With more power, you have to be more cautious. That's called RISK. Just because you can ride a 600 and a litre just the same, does not mean they are the same. What you want to ride is up to you, it's the rest of us who get to think you're making a mistake.

And for the record, you saying you dont wear gear because it makes you more wreckless? That's probably the most immature statement I've ever seen on this forum. You should not even be on a bike with you risk mitigation skills.

You have no idea what you are talking about on both points.

The one with the smarter person behind the wheel. What do I win? Kids in 90hp Del Sols manage to kill themselves attempting to drift, its driving like an idiot that kills you. The MV moves along just fine at 4,000 RPM, probably only making 40hp, so that means at that point its a lot safer than some 600 being redlined.

Now, the gear thing. Advocating riding without gear is moronic and its surprising how many people do. I met a guy a month ago who claimed to race who said boots are a bad idea, so just because you have done a track day doesn't make you an expert either.

Gear is a must, the whole thing. The helmet to keep you from dying. Even beyond that wearing armored abrasion resistant gear is important to me because the helmet will just keep you awake while the concrete sands you skin off. Jeans just get you scraped off skin and a shattered kneecap. Shit, I outfitted my girlfriend with motorcycle gear for riding her scooter. Doesnt matter if you are on a 100cc scooter or a 1100cc superbike, if you go down at your average speed of 40 its going to hurt equally as much.

PS: 99% of those people who call someone a squid are just douchebags who parrot some phrase that they don't even understand the meaning behind. I couldn't tell you how many chodes on bikes wearing some cheezy jacket calling a guy a squid for wearing a carhart or something.

Edit: also, I lost on the video when the guy was ghost riding the GSXR.
