As a professional motorcycle mech (primary Ducati) among other things for the 15 years or so, i have ridden just about everything and back to back.
What you dont realize is that the 1000 has more torque so it feels faster. The lap times for comparable 600s and 1000s at Road Atlanta is only half a second different.
I had two customers that bought a hayabusa and a gsxr750 and went to the drags. Guess who won? The one with 40 less horsepower that feels WAY slower.
Yes, lots of ferrari owners cry about maintenance, so do porsche owners, ducati owners, etc. It's person , not the machine. If they have more than one vehicle in the shop at the same time the tears just flow.
This explains a lot.
If you really don't want to die, you will wear a helmet. I would highly recommend you sign up for rider safety/instruction classes preferably at a racetrack so that you will know how to not die when you (god forbid) need to put your lonely chicken strips to work.
You choose your risks in life, have fun and stay safe.
