Well the Amazon sale sucked. Ended up driving over to Microcenter and bought a bunch of stuff. All my parts should be here by Friday. I got sooo close to a sub $1k i5/GTX980 build.

Prime Day blew... stupid marketing scam to get more people to subscribe to Prime.

I enjoy Prime and it's associated services (music, video, etc)... but the sale was just garbage. Black Friday competitor my ass.

Very nice build though Lambo. Decent price too for a pretty beefy machine. I am green. I am on an i5 (not K sku though) and only have 960... but it gets the job done for what I use this comp for (we have 6 in the house).

Honestly, the 980 is overkill for me. I'm only going to be using a 1080p 60hz monitor until tax day when I can maybe pick up an ultra wide. I just couldn't pass up this price point.

just think it futureproofed you build by at least an extra year or so, i dont look at buying better parts as overkill more of how much longer you can use it before its obsolete

Oh for sure. You got a "no-brainer" deal on that card. I paid the same amount for my PNY 960. I don't feel bad though as the 960 is still a helluvan upgrade over my 560ti, uses less power, and is quieter.

Glad you were able to find such a sweet deal. I am in an even worse monitor situation than you as my wife and I both game/work on 1080p 32" LG LED 60hz TV's. LOL... fortunately neither of us are into FPS's.

You couldve saved some money on PSU mobo and the cpu cooler, but otherwise nice build.

depending on your headphones i bet youll be switching fans in your rig, I had the stock fans and some corsair ones and they got way too loud.

I personally ended up with some noctuas, but I heard good things about coolermaster quiet fans.

^Lots of fans out there now that are decently quiet. Noctua is still the leader... but I am not paying that much for fans... ever. Just a preference though, I can definitely see why people choose them... even with their "shitty" color. I think they have black now too... bout time. ;)

Key is to make sure you can use PWM on them (Mobo or controller) and spin them slow.
