I laugh at this statement. Are we building all-in-ones based off a ~200-300 watt PSU? You know the cost of the LCD by itself??? 5k Retina is ~$900
You are doing a completely different build with a non-mobile GFX card and most likely better spec'd processor. The computer you build as a hackintosh WILL outperform the AIO.

Nice! I love NZXT's cable shield thingy. Only thing I would change is maybe add an air cooler for the cpu. It would run quieter and look great in that window.

I've been outta the PC building loop for awhile.
Current rig
AMD phenom dual core
Asus board
GTO 250 or 260 video card
4 gigs ram
500 gig hard drive
Windows 7 premium
I may hand this box down to my step son
I've been doing some online reading on current gen stuff......man I'm behind!!!
Any suggestions?
I may do some gaming on the next box as wellComment

To build on my statement heres some examples:
https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/xfmPx...-960-gaming-pc This is probably the most popular $500 pc build right now, You can also switch out the I5 for a FX-8320 and a AM3+ board if you like AMD more, but the I5 will outperform it.
http://i.imgur.com/E7mEHNZ.png This is something id consider a great average middle of the line build, will max most games at 60fps 1080p, some even at 1440p.
and bonkers builds are everywhere, pc partpicker is filled with them.

I'll check it out for sure.
Most of my reading lately points to AMD being "stagnant" in their chip design.
This build may go Intel.Comment

My last 3 builds have all been AMD. Good value for the money in my opinion. Never felt "bottle necked" in any applications.
5-$700 area is usually where I end up on most of my builds.Comment

A good place to check for sales.
