Yeah I'll have to look into cases. I want one that I'll be happy with for a long time.I felt the same about liquid cooling, but honestly glad I went with it. Very efficient and a breeze to install.
The fractal has top mounted usb's (3.0 too) and I've become a big fan of them. I had a couple guys try and talk me out of it because they get filled with dust/etc but I'm glad I went with it.
What are you doing as far as monitors/keyboard/mouse goes?
As for keyboard and mouse, I'd probably hold off on buying nice ones. I have a $12 Amazon keyboard and a Logitech M705 mouse that will work fine for the time being. I'd like to get a Corsair K70 for a keyboard and something similar to a Razer Deathadder for a mouse. I love the simplicity of the Deathadder, I don't need or want a bajillion buttons on my mouse, but I've heard some meh things about the Deathadder lately.
Monitor-wise I'd probably just use my 26" 1080p led Vizio that I've been using for a while now. Ideally I'd run 2 monitors (one 4k, one 1080P ultrasharp) but idk if that's in the budget as of right now. Plus my Vizio actually has a really good quality picture.

Recently I built a small server for storage and development work. The key drivers for the build were 1) ample storage 2) Enough computing power and 3) Quiet - as it sits about a foot away from me at my desk. I have it set up for VPN and remote desktop from my Surface Pro 3 512gb attached to a pair of 24" Dell UH2414's.

My setup looks like this:
AMD Phenom 2 Black Edition (OC to 3.8ghz)
ASUS M4a79T Deluxe
16Gb Corsair 1600mhz
Nvidia GTX 580 (OC to 850 mhz)
2x Samsung 840 SSD in RAID 0
1x 500GB Maxtor
Corsair H50 Water cooler
Corsair 750W power supply
My rig has been upgraded here and there for the past 8 years. The highest price item in my whole rig was the video card. Surprisingly it's made the smallest difference in performance. SSDs were the biggest performance change.
My next rig will definitely be Intel powered. These AMD cores just can't overclock for shit.

I dunno man, I had my Phenom II be 975 up to 4.2ghz stable from 3.6. Only ran at 46* on an h100i.
It was still a large bottleneck once I installed the gtx970 though. No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.Comment

but my trackball is my own, everyone else refuses to use it, other than the wife sometime plays with it much to my amusement.
Really anyone else that sits down at my computer is like WTF is this thing, where is the mouse and uses the track pad or has to dig around on the desk to find the normal mouse...
They are the fucking shit for working on your computer in you work truck, when you can put them anywhere and they work..... unlike a mouse which has to have a good surface and when you have lots of click and hold kind of tools you have to use all the time
Logitech 570 all the way I dont use anything else anymore unless its by force.....Last edited by mrsleeve; 02-17-2015, 05:30 AM.The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -Alexis de TocquevilleOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

how about wireless mice/keyboards? I had some sort of Logitech a few years back and it was laggy. Got a Microsoft something or other recently and it was equally as useless. Is it just a waste of time to expect a wireless mouse that doesn't lag, or a keyboard that misses 1/3 of my keystrokes?Comment

I've never been a fan of wireless. I just don't see the point. Batteries, laggy, typically more $$$, not as reliable, etc.how about wireless mice/keyboards? I want one for work. the cables on my desk are really annoying, plus it gets caught on stuff all the time.
we have some in the conference rooms that seem pretty good, but I don't think they're made anymore (Microsoft).Comment
