I must be mechanically incompetent... I took the cluster out to try to diagnose my broken speedo/odo/trip and it won't go back in the same way it came out. Dumb bezel around it doesn't line up. and the cluster won't budge so I just took it out completely and it' sitting on my bed. I'll go cluster-less for a day. it's a good thing I got a full tank yesterday....

Went to BMW Service & Parts to get a door cylinder and trunk lock cut for my car and got quoted for $136.37. Pissed. Need both so badly but don't have the funds.

buy a can of WD40 and play and spray with the cylinder for a good hour or so, my last winter car had all the locks inop. got em all to work!

I know on the air bag cars it's a bitch to get out but even a more of a bitch to get in with the little trim peice. you just have to force that hoe.

I trimmed it with a Dremel on my e30. No pictures, but basically on the back of the cluster where it has the little flanges or whatever. Slid right in. The the hardest part was getting my greedy Jew fingers back there to tighten the damn nuts.

Thank you for telling me that... I was unaware of this and I put it back in yesterday morning with it just sitting in there so it was at least plugged in and the starter was a little slow at first but now it's better. You saved me a lot of hassle...
