Seeing as though he lives in Europe I bet the engine was less than $7,000. And with the cost of S52's in the U.S. around $3-6,000, I doubt you could build one to 340hp NA for $1-4,000 including the OBDI conversion.

I give you the Euro arguement.

Descent motors that I have seen are around 2-3k. It takes about 5k to buld the motor. You also get $1k back for selling off the stock parts.

It comes out to the same price of a euro motor. But you don't need to deal with special parts that need to be orderd from over seas etc. Now if you live over there then its a good deal but for us here in the U.S. I have found a better alternative for the same price.

mtech 2 kits are ugly. I like the diving boards on an '85 eta much better!

BBS RC's are the business. Shame they are no longer offering them in E30 application.

Mtech 1 and euro bumpers look far better than Mtech 2.

i do agree though, if I had to chose between say, a full mtech2 car with a US s50 versus a diving board car with a euro s50, diving boards all the way. Actually, I'd rather have a diving board car w/ the us motor, but I digress...

ohhhh, cheapo. I couldnt understand why you would take a US over real S50.

I am kind of kicking myself for not coughing up the dough for a S50B32 that came up local (w/6 speed) for 7k back when I was doing my swap. I just dont think I could have justified installing a motor more unique....

If you could build a 3.4L S50 for $5k everyone would do it. You could probably rebuild a motor for $5k if you did the work yourself. Show me some receipts and I'll buy it, but I still think your estimates are way off.
