I worked as en electrical apprentice for a company called argotec. There are 4 of us in the electrical department. Anyways the company produces Polyurethane plastic sheets in big rolls that we sell to like 3M and the military to make bulletproof glass and paint protection etc. I was working around one of "lines" As we call them; the process of taking little plastic beads and turning into a like a 4 foot wide wrap. These rolls of "plastic" Can be worth 3-6k each. The lines are located in a big "clean room" (double door systems with sticky mats on both sides, have to wear hairnet, booties & suit) srs. bsns.

I was drilling a hole or something to run some EMT conduit, and my knee hit the fucking emergency stop button, which stops the WHOLE thing, all the processes. I was like fuck me!! About 20 minutes later i accidentally hit another emergency stop button AGAIN!!

So that's 2 fucked up rolls, that are not long enough for customers specs. Major company downtime, everything had to be restarted; turn everything on, set specs, heat up, and then fish the plastic through like 10 rollers going all over the place.

That was not my day... Lots of shit given :P Didn't exactly break anything, but easily a 5k+ mistake.

the most i've broken while working: an electric soup kettle - I turned the thing all the way up on the temperature knob instead of turning it off when i removed the soup pot and left it on all night. Could have burned the deli down.

Most expensive mistake at work: Slicing my right middle finger on the meat slicer - a couple hundred dollars for the emergency room and then an extra $700 or so for a damned xray

I left the trunk of a Ford Taurus open while it was on the lift. I wasn't paying attention and ended up lifting it too high so the trunk was crushed by an overhead beam, which forced it down onto the back window which then shattered. That was after about a two months working there. I hated those stupid low ceilings, especially when a work truck would come in with ladders and stuff on top.

Definitely read that in Ron Swansons voice.

Guy I worked with came from a railroad job where his co-worker was leaning out of the window yelling at someone behind him while moving a train forward faster than he should have been and smashed right into another set of railcars. Said it was over $3.6 million and he kept his job. Unions....

I am in construction, so destruction has to happen on each new job site. I have an awesome job!

Most expensive thing I have destroyed was my Sister's camera after it was left on the work truck.

A co worker of mine printed about 2,500 shirts that had a misspelling on them. They tried to change the art to make it work better and somehow the spelling of the logo got changed and was never caught. That was a 6,000$ mistake when it was all said and done. Another co worker left the water on all night in the sink, the hose busted and left 6 inches of water on the whole warehouse floor. Destroyed thousands of dollars worth of inventory and some machines.

Another exciting trip was when someone didn't tension the injectors down on one of these bad boys and it shot the injector through the rocker cover and set fire to the engine.

i rented a d80 for a photo shoot of tractors in 2008, after a long day shoot hanging out of a minivan on a gravel road, it was toast. whenever you twisted the dials it had a gritty noise :(. We broke two windshields of the two rental cars driving back and forth on the roads. I had a light fall over this year and work bought me a new one ~$500

i called out the wrong label on 200,000 pieces once. I caught it halfway through so the repair bill was just over 100,000@$.10 for each label replacement.
