I put the wrong oil filter on a Toyota Camry once. It held for two days before blowing off. I have to buy that customer an engine.

I hate those Toyota filters. That o-ring always gets pinched and leaks oil if Ur not careful. At my job out night crew consists of a buch of retards. One of the guys who happens to be a pothead (our boss knows this but ignores it) put the O-Ring in the freaking threads on a camaro SS. Who does that. Needless to say the car got rented and a 3 days later can back with a blown engine from no oil.

No drug test and he still has his job. Cough cough AvisBudget allows you to mess up 2 cars before they fire you... But I'm sure my boss will cover for you so no one finds out.

really this is insane, if i fucked up one car i'd be out of a job. i put a oilfilter on the wrong engine once, then double checked engine size, pulled filter off and put right one on, and that was my second or third day as a tech...ever.

theres a jiffy lube next to the shop im at, oh my god are they fucktards.

they stripped a drain plug on a toyota sienna, so they got a 3/8 impact gun and a "cutter" plug, needless to say they cracked the pan, we got paid to fix it.

they pull a car up to our shop asking us to help get the dipstick out they broke, they didn't mention the oil streak leading from their bay to our lot and the puddle under the car of fresh oil...drain plug had "fallen" out, wtf?

O man don't even get started on drain plugs. These idiots cant seem to understand that a 12- point 10mm socket is not meant for a 3/8 plug. All the chryslers pretty much have them and they round drain plugs all the time and I'm left to replace it. I've even had to drill out some Chevy cruze plugs because they completely rounded it off. Either that or an air chisel.

I think it's only because we're fleet and don't directly deal with customers at the shop so they give you more leeway but the amount of money my company wastes is rediculous.

I work at a bike shop, and we have an old POS trek 'shop bike' that we run errands on/fuck around with and we were all trying to pinch flat the tires (low air, big bunny hop, tire goes boom). The tubes on this thing must be indestructible, I bunny hopped as high as I can, and slammed the bike down also as hard as I can and both tubes stayed intact. The impact was so damn hard the fork bent to all hell. The Bike was un-rideable, pretty hilarious. But i had to clock out and put another fork in it.

snapped a sheet metal bender where the arm attaches to the top part. Snapped some casted iron peice into little bits.

Managed to knock over a sheet metal brake witha forklift at my work. It fell right on the lip that the metal bends over, and chipped a few 2" sections out of it. Cost about 2k to resurface and regrind the lip to flat.


Few months later, after recieving all the parts back, my boss and I were reassembling the machine. Had it on slings on a forklift, one side got caught on a support beam in the building, and it fell on my foot. A 2x4 right where I was standing saved my foot from most of the impact, and I amazingly didn't end up with a broken or severed foot. But the lip had to be sent back and reground again, and work covered my hospital bill.
