Redondo Beach is Awesome. Clean, cool ocean breeze everyday. Quality People and great schools for your kids. Good Luck with the interview.

So I interviewed with Tampa. While the interview went well I don't think I will take the job. 35k/yr salary but 730-630 tues through sat (55hr week), they do not pay any portion of insurance, shop only moved 35 units a month, etc...

I phone interviewed with the redondo beach shop. Call was almost an hour. Went very well. We are taking the next steps and they will send me consent forms for background checks, etc

I said the exact same thing, until I got the fuck out of Claremont a few years ago after living there for 8 years. Before that I was born and raised in Palm Springs. I would never move back to that hellhole. You really need a few more years of life experience, and need to get out and see the rest of the country.

The benefits are far outweighed by the ridiculous expense and insanity that comes from living there. Come back to this thread after you have spent a few years out from under your parents roof.

Yes, I AM bashing your suggestion.

what is your degree in? how old are you?

I would stay in florida, no income taxes! Tampa is a huge market, that business could grow as the economy slowly improves.

Cali has a ~10%(?) income tax in addition to higher COL, with no benefits either place the 35k tampa job is like a 50k cali job IMO.

I saw that you said you're on a budget and also want a nice quiet place to raise your kids.
have you looked into the inland empire of California? the cost of living out here is WAY less than in downtown. less money, less people, but you still get the diversity and beautiful California weather. and the beach, desert, snow, and downtown are all only an hour away.
and don't worry about the traffic, you learn how to deal with it.
and like e30trooper said, your industry is bangin over here, and the e30 scene is insane. as well as the whole car scene in general! you have REAL jdm cars in San Gabriel, exotics through mulholland, and Baja trucks out in San Bernardino.

actually dude i wouldn't recommend moving to the IE , the Inland Empire has almost all of the bad things about living in Cali (Smog, traffic and so many damn people) but non of the benefits(neutral climate, beaches, food, etc) its hotter than hell in the summer, we get all the smog that comes out of the la area and you pretty much live in the middle of nowhere ( expect we do have big bear which is nice). OP i would recommend trying hard to get that redondo beach job its very nice (weather wise) theres the beach and your far enough away from LA central so traffic isn't as bad. good luck op
