Yes, I've been to an independent running shoe store and bought the "right" shoes. I've also read Chi Running, and now I hurt more than ever! I think that I think about my form too much now, and it's all gone to crap.
I also use the rolling pin on my shins, and do exercises to strenghten my ankles/shins, but I still get them every time I run. I can hardly walk after a 5k.
I've resulted to swimming as much as possible (swam in HS) to stay in shape, then just bang out a 1.5 mile run every 6mo and hurt for a week afterwards. I'd like to drop my time down into the 10 minute mark (11:30 now) but it just hurts too much to try.
