They were so damned good as a 3 man DJ collective, but once they changed to the live style of electro with guitars, synths, drums and vocals, they definitely went though a period where to be perfectly honest - they sucked -and this was just after this album had come out.
They pissed off a lot of hardcore fans with the change in band lineup and music style, and this was after only one album!
Last Feburary I saw them and they only played for an hour, and for a capacity crowd, you've never heard so many people say "they'd never seem them again"
I saw them again a massive music festival that I go to every year (http://www.bigdayout.com/) - they played what was without a doubt, the biggest afternoon set of the festival, ever. And this is a festival that has been going since 1995. The crowd was probably 30,000 big, all moving as one, getting so amped it was like a human sea to all 4 corners of the arena and all the way up the stands.
It was nothing like I've seen before. So tight, so well polished, it was like night and day from their darker days (excuse the pun?)
Anyway, definitely get there to see them if you ever get a chance. Incredible.
