Changed my NTC3 pull start to a gear drive so I can start it will a drill, and actually got it out today and messed with it some.

That is absurdly powerful. Maybe add a bit of weight over the front to help keep in planted? Do they make any long wheel base conversions for that chassis?

Got out the E-maxx for some 6s Lipo action today.

Holy crap, it is retarded fast. You can't even utilize the entire throttle spectrum. It doesn't matter how fast you are going, if you squeeze the trigger past 3/4 it violently flips and tumbles.

Broke the front shock tower within 30 seconds, didn't even wreck it... Just hit some rough terrain. Wired it back together for a temp fix, and then proceeded to wreck my steering servo 5 minutes later.

Down for the count, for now. So glad I couldn't bring myself to sell it!

I joined up on RCTech. Also bought a HPI e30 M3 body for my NTC3, and tires too. Got a controller and servos for the Landmax to get it finished. Now to wait on the mailman and UPS!

Are there any good RC forums? I just fired off my Kyosho LandMax for the first me in 5 or 6 years, and it kind of sucks to have to rely on eBay for parts if I ever need something. Seeing it is around 15 years old now, I don't think Kyosho carries stuff for it anymore. But I could be wrong on that...

I was on http://radiocontrolzone.com/ when I was in the hobby, but that was nearly 10 years ago. It was a good forum back then, no idea how it is now.

I actually still have all my RC cars still, should probably get rid of them, seeing as I haven't used them since high school.

Haven't been on a rc forum in years.

I tried selling my emaxx setup 4 times on eBay now. Ended it early every time and I gave up on trying to convince myself to sell it.

I don't use it much, but when I do its too much fun to ever sell it.

Like racing and beating cars on coastal highway during H2O 2013 on 4s. I'll be back this year on 6s. Bring it.

Custom front wheel drive project:
I started with a spare parts TL-01 (an entry level 4wd monocoque chassis), and some extra free time. I had been eyeing the Tamiya m05 and ff-03 fwd chassis, but decided I was not going to spend money on another chassis. Instead, I decided to use parts from my tl-01 chassis parts and some carbon fiber scrap sheets to make a fwd chassis. I bought a spare tl-01 monocoque off ebay for $10, in case I screwed up too badly, and then started cutting. I was careful to not modify anything that couldn't be undone, and put all the unused parts in a container, so I could strip down the fwd chassis and rebuild the tl-01, in the event that the whole project came out terribly. Now that it is almost done, I am no longer worried about that. I still have to make the upper chassis brace pieces, which, along with some aluminum bits, double as the battery hold down. Even without the upper brace, the chassis is fairly rigid.

There aren't a whole lot of fwd bodies out there, but I eventually settled on a Tamiya Civic shell:



The bottom chassis and both shock towers are cut out of carbon fiber. The edges where coated with clear nail polish to prevent fraying, and then the whole pieces sprayed with clear coat to help protect them.



The steering linkage are some cheap ebay aluminum bits meant for the tt-01 chassis.



The rear has adjustable camber and -3 degree toe blocks. I have soft and hard sway bars, and different springs to fine tune the handling. The rear is braced with aluminum, and in this pic you can see where the upper brace will bolt in.



After trimming down the motor mount/transmission area from the monocoque, I was left with a hole under the pinion/spur gear area. I sealed the two halves by plastic welding in some scrap plastic. It needs to be filed/sanded quite a bit still to smooth out the surface.

I need a break in this relentless winter weather so I can take this out and try to get it dialed in. I'm excited to see how it handles.

- TL-01 with most of the official hop ups. Even though it was a budget chassis, it is actually quite a good touring car once its dialed in. The e30 M3 body is its shelf body. I have a Nissan 350Z shell for bashing.
- Custom fwd chassis wearing the Civic body.
- Team Associated SC10RS. I got back into racing recently, and this truck is a blast. It took a while to get dialed in to a point that it is smooth and predictable at the local tracks. The last event I was able to actually climb up a few brackets.
