except cop cars have running cameras the entire time so, nah they'd be fucked

When I was an EMT in CA, the legal limit for us responding to a call was 15 over when conditions permitted. I'm sure police cant be much different from that. But like a previous post stated, when responding to a call that involves using a freeway, its easier/safer to not use lights/sirens because people get all panicky and start merging/ pulling over causing more accidents.
I have friends who are EOD bro.

That's awesome. I have friends who make coffee for a living, but you don't see me rocking out a bunch of lattes

But if its unreasonable speeds or reckless endangerment then the cop is not really covered by the law. But "unreasonable" is a bit subjective you know, as many cop involving laws are
It doesn't matter if it's illegal. Who's gonna enforce it? If you were a cop, would you pull over one of your (cop) friends and write them a ticket?

Do you know the specifics of that? I always thought cutting someone off was inhibiting them enough for them to brake (hard) regardless of speed limits. Although in my mind I never get annoyed if I'm speeding and someone turns in front of me because even if I have to slam on the brakes, I shouldn't have been going twice the limit to begin with.

If you rear end me you are at fault, either following too closely or traveling faster than conditions allow. Cop or not whoever rear ends who is normally at fault.

And if I were a cop I'd want to be IA, so I could take care of the cops that "accidentally" erase tapes and pull over the abusers.

Just because there is a shift change doesn't give them the right to speed. They should leave for work at an appropriate time like everyone else or get a ticket like everyone else.

I know a lot of friends in the police world and we have this conversation all the time...it really aggravates me and they think its funny so give me shit about it all the time. Technically they aren't supposed to go over the speed limit but they all do and well we can only yell at our windshield and keep on. People call in to complain but nothing happens about it. They can just say they were following someone and didn't want to use lights yet, etc.

Now if you really want to get them in trouble....call in and complain that they were using facebook while on duty.

Not if you're a cop. Friend of mine got rear ended by one and they played it off as said friend's fault.

Basic run down: friend pulled out onto a 4 lane highway. There is a hill about 200 yards up from where he pulled out. Cop popped over the hill and nailed friend's car. Friend charged with failure to yield right of way.

                      BS.

Story doesn't really make anything clear. Was your friend crossing over the highway? You're friend should have gone after him, then again Virginia cops blow. Pretty sure we covered that little fact a while back.

One of my friends old bosses (attorney) told him about a client he had a while back. Anytime a cop got behind this guy he would slam on his brakes and get a new car/settlement, he did this quite a few times. (until he died in a car accident lol)

Friend was making a right turn out of a grocery store onto the highway. All was clear, he turned out, went a little ways, and BAM, hit.

It was a city cop, IIRC. They are the worst. I've had good luck with state and county cops here, but the city cops are all the HS bullies who never grew up.

State cops is hit or miss. I've had douches, then I've had them tell me to wait for them to leave the scene of an accident and I could go on my merry way. Even dropped charges in court. (Two accidents, one I rear ended a guy [guy had suspended lisence, so cop didn't even charge me, just told me to go home] , the other I lost control of my car and ran over a few mailboxes. It got dropped.)

County cops are cool. Friends with one. Had one let me off of street racing with a speeding ticket. Paid fine and never went to court.
