    Best 944 Forum?

My buddy is about to pull the trigger on a Porsche 944 (1985.5) and I'm trying to see what the best forum is out there for it. Since we all know r3v is the best forum for the e30, what is the best forum for the 944?

Something with tons of info and a good community, let me know!

    He should:

    1. Buy E30 instead
    2. Join R3v
    3. Use savings and R3v community for LSx swap
    4. Profit!
    Different strokes for different folks.

Rennlist and Pelican Parts are probably your best bet.

+1. Buying a 944 was the worst decision I ever made.

Rennlist is a bunch of people asking what oil they should use.. kind of like bimmerforums.
Just use http://www.clarks-garage.com for any type of repairs.

Looked at a 944 today, was an OK car but no E30. Didn't buy it.

              ^ This.

You have to pay for a subscription to Rennlist, but it is 100% worth it.

Oh, and while I prefer to wrench on the E30 vs 944, the 944 is a nicer car. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble.

The one I looked at had a fucked up clutch pedal, engagement was all the way at the top and felt like crap. once it was rolling it felt great. Might look at another one in a week or I'll just pick up another E30.

imo, the build quality on the e30 is much better compared to the 944, the 944 is horrible to work on, so I must disagree with that.

the 944 might be faster, its nicer to drive, more performance oriented, but i would take a beater e30 over a nice 944 any day

When I test drove the 944 we're looking at I really started to appreciate my e30's more but just like I have a disease with the e30, I can't bash someone for having the same disease with something else. I just told him to buy both ha!

Here's the one we're looking at: http://sarasota.craigslist.org/cto/3656095517.html Pictures don't show how clean the interior is or how clean other parts are. :hitler:

The seller agreed to $4700, all the seals are nice, garage kept, owner has had it since '04 and actually did work on it himself (over $4500 in receipts), new water pump/timing belt (not plastic either). Judging by other ones we've seen this looks to be a logical choice. The owner also is selling so he can buy a BMW bike and owns a 5-Series wagon so he's an actual enthusiast which is comforting haha. My buddy also wants to learn how to wrench on it so I'm supporting his decision.

I'll tell him to join Rennlist, the owner actual had a sticker with that on his window, thanks for the heads up guys!

Second question though... does a realoem.com site exist for Porsche?

                        Wait, na? A 944 isn't a 944 without a turbo.

I thought we were talking about the 951, I revoke all previous comments. Buy an e30!

Haha, yea spec wise the Porsche does not seems to be faster so I was wondering what the posts here were talking about... It certainly didn't feel faster. Also heal-toe was not as effortless. The 944S seems to be a bit better.

^ The 3.0 versions are pretty awesome. I got to take one for a spin that the guy had set up for AutoX, it was a blast.
