      From my brief research...

      SD > LA

^True. SD has a slower pace than the constant rat race in LA.

no one mentioned the Sierra Nevadas! its still cali so the winter is pretty mild if u live below 4000ft and they dont use salt in most places, but its like cali that has slowed down a little and not as many people and trees and mountain roads, but im only a couple hours away from the coast, sactown, and freshole, plus right outside i have snowboarding, hiking, cycling, wakeboarding, boating etc. plus if you live in a couple of the counties they are smog exempt! only downsides are if you live in eastern madera county or Mariposa county(smog exempt!) they are tourist traps and alot of Socal people come up here and going to yosemite trash it up, or move here in big waves and shoot land values up, but i love it up here!

also the eastern sierras are pretty cool too but once again retiring socal people shoot land values up ;)

When I was younger I would not cross the orange curtain. Going to Hollywood never, I mean never, ended well.

              @lambo - may I add SD > OC > LA ;)

what do you think they have been doing to CO for 30 years, and more recently Western MT, Northern ID, and north western WY.................. Locals cant hardly find jobs that will pay the property taxes on the old family homesteads anymore in a lot cases.

Unfortunately, now I do. Grew up in Plymouth town just across from the Cape Cod.

I honestly spend more time abroad these days than in my own home. Will find an area where it's calm enough to live shortly.

exactly 10 years ago people could afford a 2bed 1 bath place really easy and than all of a sudden when i was still in middle school we had like 15 new kids per year and my parents rent went up like $300 IT WAS CRAZY! now its around $1700 for a nice 3bed 1 bath place where most people only make $11 to $13 an hour

It's cause you kids are young and don't make enough money to really enjoy LA. You can see older members like reeliz and myself that make decent money really enjoy the culture/diversity/opportunity/cars/women that the greatest city on earth offers.

If you can't make it in LA than you're free to move to a lesser area. NYC/Chicago/Miami come to mind. if you can't make it int those cities than most goto that shithole called vegas or the boonies like Idaho or whatever fucking mountain range you like.

Make 150k in LA and don't fuck hookers and do heroin everyday and you'll live like a king and see what a vast city with over 224 languages and over 10 million people can do for you.

Oh yeah and we have pretty women and nice cars too....

                          ^

Different strokes for different folks, it's not always about making it or having the glitz and glam. Not everyone has the opinion that an overpopulated metropolis is their end all be all lifestyle. Assuming everyone's life revolves around money or not having it is a sour way to live.

People have different social needs too, some people in remote places where they only see a few other human beings when they want to live long and happy lives and wouldn't have it any other way. LA is sprawled out and disconnected, while there are millions living there, so many are there not knowing their communities, not knowing their neighbors, they work to live, but do they truly live?

Personally I can handle visiting Cali, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere near LA or the overcrowded cities.

I lived in a beach city and was glad to move back up north.

All the people were so fake and shitty to eachother.

And the culture was so weak. Local music, art, etc sucked. Luckily I found a few good friends through cycling and skateboarding, but it was few.

The weather was nice but I guess I don't appreciate it as much without seasonal change.

Most car-guys have winter beaters here (by the time you're in your mid 20's everyone usually has a nice luxurious dd/winter car). I drove my m3 until mid December, and I'll be able to drive it again in a couple days (could drive it now but I'll wait for one more rain to wash the salt away). We don't get much snow, only shoveled twice this year. car season has been long for a while and only getting longer.

Global warming whatever, in my 27 years on this earth I saw a trend from harsh ass winters to very mellow winters, those aren't "exception-years" either that's on the whole.

The people here, the culture, things to do, I dunno. I'm happier here than beachtown USA
