This should be stickied imo for the time being.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

          FTW!

honestly, its great that they go fast and that it's america's most popular motorsport and all... but seeing the same car 50 times over with different paint and a run down of the "strategy" involved (go as fast as possible, try to save gas, come in first place at the end of the race) gets reeeeaaaal old reeeeaaaal fast. i miss the old days of the speed channel when it was all collector cars, hot rods, and f1 races.

NASCAR anyday over Poker. How can ESPN even think about showing Poker? Is that the state of our sporting networks? Pathetic.

I dont mind the Nascar, its the incessant "Monster Jam" and the damn motorcycle stuff that I'd like to see go.

yes less nascar, alot less. That is the biggest gripe I have had with speed TV in the last 4-5 years.

itll never happen this has been talked about for years. speed tv started for people like us showing f1, euro touring car, and less popular racing events. once they got big enough they sold out. as long as nascar is popular with the rednecks and is a huuge money earner, they wont go back to the low advertising of speciality motor sports. they make more money showing nascar than pikes peak or paris-dakar or even le mans. thats the american market and it blows. I've come to grips and downgraded my cable package to not include speed i just dont miss it anymore. Every time I travel for work and the hotel has speed I check, and all I get is NASCAR TV, and talk shows about idiots driving in an oval. its mindnumbing. <vent> and a big f-u to every simpleton who hears I like cars, and assumes I like nascar. </vent>

Don't forget 'Legends of Motorsport.' Gotta love the vintage sports car and F1 footage of the 60s-70s.

What they need is two channels. Like Fox Sports, with their million regional channels and then Fox Sports World which shows all the cool international stuff. SpeedTV and SpeedTVWorld. Pleases both parties and will gain more viewers for Speed.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.

The real problem is us. Thats right, US. We, the motorsport "fans" that won't get off of our fat asses, drop the wrenches and mosey on over to the racetrack to spectate.

NASCAR idiots driving their bone stock Taurus (Tauri?) who pay $40 each to sit in the sun all day and drool in their beer are what PAY for this shit, and WE (boys and girls who like anything other than NASCAR) simply don't go.

When was the last time YOU went to a race? Me? PIR, 2004. GI Joes' CART crap...lemme tell ya, lotsa parking available!

Quit bitching, go watch a race.

You make a very valid point. NASCAR is a marketing agency's wet dream right now (...has been for a few years actually) and that is what is paying a lot of the bills, and then some, at Speed TV. As long as the American market craves such venues like NASCAR, the Truck Series, Nextel Cup, and even CASCAR, that's what you are going to find on Speed the majority of the time. Why couldn't they take a page from ESPNs book and create a Speed TV II channel where all the 'other' racing (and more of it) can be broadcast and leave the original channel devoted to all-things-oval? I would be content with that.

I feel your pain bro. I'll be talking with someone at work about what I did over the weekend and say something like, "I got in some motorsports action on the tube" and they usually reply with, "oh, NASCAR?" I respond with, "no, Forumla 1." They look at my quizically and say, "What's that?" :-?

The other example is when I would take a day off work so I could participate in a HPDE at a local track. I will mention this to someone from work and they say, "you're into drag racing?" Um, yea.....I bought a BMW to go drag racing. It seems a lot of folks in the country have no idea that there's more racing genres out there besides ovals and drag strips.
