    I'm about to jump on either a Omega Speedmaster Pro or an IWC Portofino Cronograph.

    I cant make up my mind... anyone have first had experience with either or insights on value retention etc?

        Couple of clarifications. . .first, my GS is not an SD, it's a 9S65 auto (pretty good movement itself-mine runs about +1/day with 72 hour power reserve). Second, Seiko's "10 year only" parts availability policy is something of an urban legend. I don't think anyone really believes that Seiko will arbitrarily stop producing parts down the road.

            Here's my Speedmaster Pro 4oth moon landing anniversary LE.



            First thing to do is try on both watches that you're interested in. One will eventually "sing"to you.
            Second is to ask the AD (authorized dealer for a discount.
            Thirdly I try to avoid buying new from an unauthorized dealer. And if I do buy preowned I'll ask for box/papers & provenance of dealer purchased

                    My Luminox 3150 I've worn everyday for the last year and a half. It runs about plus 2 seconds per three months. Needless to say I set it and forget it on daylight savings. I cut out a phone screen cover to go over the crystal, 'cause I scratched the original to hell, then cracked it. Stupid mineral glass...

                                        Speedmaster pro all the way. IWC is nice, but the speedy is classic and will never disappoint.
