I'm sure its probably been said already, but the cops are probably racist.

1. He's not the only one recording
2. I don't see any police lines that say don't cross
3. The guy is obviously getting close, but I don't hear or see any cops warning or motioning him to get back. It literally takes seconds to ask him to step across the street for his own safety. He obliviously would have complied, because when they arrested him he didn't protest.

To arrest him without any instruction to move is joke and leads me to believe that they're just racist and I hope the city has to pay dearly for it. They took a member of his family.

To everyone who says he's an idiot and had it coming, need to understand that you can't arrest an idiot who isn't breaking the law or half you guys would be in jail.

This video starts at the tipping point of the interaction, unless you see the events leading up to it you cannot say that they just waltzed on up and arrested him.

that owner has to be one the biggest idiots ever. who blares music and parks their car in the middle of the street when clearly a violet crime is in action. then gets out and walks the dog.
owner is 100% at fault. the cop is trash that should have been fired for his indiscretion a year ago. so it's also 100% the cops fault.

Right ON POINT...But you know the people here siding with the cop, are outstanding citizens, they obey every traffic law.

Police, judges, even presidents aren't different from any citizen that makes a dumb/foolish mistakes, they make terrible judgements that cost peoples property and lives for that matter. and there's nothing wrong in admitting that you're wrong and asking for forgiveness from the community. I personally don't believe this cop should loose his job. Not all cops wouldv'e handled the situation this way, cause I am pretty sure a k-9 cop wouldve handled it differently. but what is wrong is wrong.

Haha, judge me sir... But I'm the kind of guy that makes sure you're treated fairly by law enforcement. I'm the kind of guy that makes sure law enforcement officials are held accountable for their actions, and are not held above the law. You can call me all the names you want, but you don't know me, you done know how I treat others, including law enforcement. I've worked with and have respect for many officers... Hell, I've had officials testify on my behalf... But respect is earned, not given just because you have a badge. The fact remains, there is nothing in these videos that show the dogs owner doing anything illegal, yet he was detained by officers which, in turn, provoked his dog to protect him, and the dog was killed. Had the dog not been provoked, this post wouldn't exist. That is the bottom line. Yes, the dog lunged... Yes, the dog was a threat, and yes, the dog was shot because of that. However, the dog was provoked due to unlawful detainment of his owner. Can anybody really argue that? And guess what, it doesn't matter what the owners intentions were, he did nothing illegal (no charges filed) and therefore should not have been detained.
I still stand my ground, he was detained unlawfully which provoked his dog... Law enforcement should be held accountable.

ps - I have not personally attacked anyone in this thread, and would appreciate the same courtesy.

Come on, I wasn't attacking you or calling you names or making any assumptions about you. Reread what I wrote. My judgement won't precede your behavior; only when you actually start heckling cops will I then think of you as a disrespectful dumbass. If giving cops a hard time for no reason is your thing, then you know how I feel. I completely agree that cops should be held accountable, and there are appropriate channels to follow up on that sort of thing. Getting in their face and being defiant because your rights protect you isn't going to accomplish much.

That being said, I think I've made it clear that I'm not siding with the cops this time. I've expressed that what I think they did was completely wrong. They overreacted to the guy and his dog. But, I'm not going to defend the guy's right to behave like he did in that setting, which others have already said. I don't have anything nice to say about anybody in that video, the whole thing makes me angry.

and I totally agree, the whole thing makes me angry! and let me clarify something, i'm not defending the guys actions, i'm only defending the rights that we are afforded. i believe, based on what is seen in these videos, that his rights were violated and that led to the death of his dog. he should have never been detained in the first place, and none of this would have happened.

This is exactly what it looks like. He's obviously a compliant guy from the video. Your probably right tho, white people are never racist, especially not cops, they never racial profile.

Seriously tho as I dog owner I'm super sad and almost cried when I saw him get shot. But honestly fuck the dog and the the cop who shoot him. They both responded in a way that man and beast always have, should and will respond. The dog is always going to lunge at anyone who's harming its owner. I had a rottweiler back in high school and have a miniature pinscher now, they're both the same and protective. Fuck the cop shooting the dog. If a 200 pound rottweiler lunged at me I'd done the same thing. The issue is why was the guy arrested. If he weren't arrested, this wouldn't have happened.
