What does R3v think about the Fiat 500 Abarth?

I've only ever seen them, never taken a close look inside or driven one. My buddy has, and he said it was pretty fun, and he's a pretty good judge of cars.

Purely on the exterior esthetic, I hate it. I think it looks ridiculous. I'd rather own a New Beetle.

The point is that a 1.4L should get better mpg than my 2.8L I enjoy the hell out of my car, its my daily and it also does quite well when I take it to the track/ autox.

No point in having a second car IMO unless you are trying to keep the miles low, but that doesnt apply to me. If put almost 14k in 6 months since my freshly rebuilt motor was done.

I agree after driving a fiesta st that is definitely the car i would purchase in this segment. They are soo damn fun

I'd look for a fiesta st, i have one and love every second with it. 16k so far and no hiccups with regular oil changes and whatnot

Why because a car that is that small should be able to give good numbers in fuel economy. My misses purchased a Fit Sport with a whopping 113 hp and it's fun and delivers 38 mpg consistently. Modern technology allows you to get both and this is not cutting it.

Yes, there are faster cars out there. Yes, other cars have better mpgs. That wasn't the point of getting this one. I got good mpgs on my E30 M50 and could have pulled away from this car but I wanted something different. For me, it has an X factor. The Abarth is about the smiles per gallon. Plus, its been 2 weeks since Ive seen another Abarth on the road.

I get 25-28mpg in my M52 powered E30. Blows my mind that a 1.6 isnt in the 30s even if you're beating on it.

Glad you're happy with it. Ive actually considered getting a Fiat 500e because I can cruise the carpool lanes for my commute.

This is what I get with my318Ti automatic and I hate it for that reason. It gets 30 mpg on highway but toss it around town and it becomes a gas guzzler at 23 for a smaller car and it sucks.

I get 27-29mpg with my M30 and fucked a modded Abarth on the way home from Rochester, NY. But if I hammer on the m30 I am lucky to get 20mpg lol

Worst tank Ive gotten was a 23mpg average and that was because my idiot friend put 87octane in and my car was fully loaded with 4 people + luggage and hooning.

What a frickin riot it has been! No regrets!... Fuelly reads ive average 29mpg but I drive it like I stole it. ... comes with a track day...the driving itself was a blast!

Overall, I smile every time I fire this little beast up. Small, nimble, and a the sounds it makes make my trek to work enjoyable.

Hard to argue with a car that's fun to drive. If it ain't fun it, um, ain't fun, so if nobody is paying you to drive it get something like a small toss-able car and drive it like you stole it. Or get an F150 and drive like you're asleep.

If people call you ghey for having fun they're probably are just grumpy because they sat on their nuts in their over-powered compensation mobiles..

Well, I thought Id update this thread. I did buy an new fully loaded Abarth in February and have just crossed the 10K miles mark. What a frickin riot it has been! No regrets! It has been my DD unless the weather is to nice to deny a stroll in the cabrio. There are a few good forums (not as good as r3v, of course) with plenty of info. Fuelly reads ive average 29mpg but I drive it like I stole it. I haven't modded it yet but there are options. A good intake and tune puts these cars up to 200wph for about a grand.

One of the perks of purchase is that it comes with a track day called the Abarth Track Experience. A full day of beating on 30 company supplied Abarths. I choose the Old Bridge Township in NJ location. Leguna SECA and Lime Rock are some of the tracks on the schedule but those locations never worked for my scheduling. My day was just perfect. Catered breakfast and lunch, great instructors, nice door prizes, and the driving itself was a blast! I did place 3rd overall. :up: Also included was in-dash camera videos there were uploaded to each ones personal USB drive. There were all levels of new owners experience.
