Good thread if we can keep it under control.

Unforunately old rich white guys have no problem in determining woman's rights with respect to abortion. First of all, a fetus can not survive outside of the womb. If it can not survive without the physical substance of another living thing, I believe it is not alive. Human, yes, but not alive.

But like RoyalFlush pointed out, there are many factors, such as economics, time, and stability which contribute to a proper way of upbringing children. I know for a fact that my parents contributed a hell of a lot of money, time, and support to me as I grew up. If I were to have had a child while in high school or college, I wouldn't only destroy the child's life by not being able to give my full attention to raising the kid, I would flush away my future aspirations trying to do both.

With almost 6.6 billion people on this planet (http://www.ibiblio.org/lunarbin/worldpop), the last thing we need now is more children that weren't raised by loving, attentive, mature parents. And having a socially conservative administration that withdrawls funding from birth control programs abroad doesn't help ....

While I feel abortion shouldn't be used as a primary contraceptive, having a child at the wrong time damages both the child and the parents.

About the idea that the US was founded by Christians. The puritans were a highly fundamental and religious group, but some of the founding fathers (Franklin and Jefferson to name a few) were not devote christians to say the least. Lots of the 'Under God' references were inserted into government during the beginning of the cold war, because after all, Commies were against religion (Marx: Religion is the opium of the masses) and our democracy was famous for it's religious freedom ...

and that gives you the right to decide if a life is worth living? My best friend's dad was an "abortion baby" his parents were told by the doctors to abort him, b/c he "would never be able to function in life" Well, tell that to him now, he's an A student at UNC- Chapel Hill.

Point, - we have no right to decide whether a life is "worth living" it's not your life to decide that, if you think you have that privelage - you are a sick individual. No human has the right to decide on the life of another.

as far as your facts about overpopulation, ok, I buy it, so let's kill all the hispanics, and go ahead and destroy all of Africa, the conditions they are living in are not NEARLY suitable to be living in. Since we are all so high and mighty and have the right to decide if a human should live, we should just kill them all

define religion. As far as I am concerned, religion is nothing more than a belief system, which EVERYONE has. Quit hiding behind you marxist useless philosophy

its really impossible to prove you guys wrong because you are just going to stick to your side of the story.

dave-cn, h0lmes, BimmerToad, royalflush313, myself and thejimlab have all made some very good arguments but again its impossible to get anything through your thick skin.
