Are you actually suggesting that Northern Alberta, is ...warm? as in so much noticeably warmer than Sask, and Man. in the winter that it can "get away" without using road salt?
when have you last left lotus land?
I mean, not during an unusual warming period, but during an average January of February? it is really fucking cold there...a lot.
also, the other mentioned provinces would employ a brine system, and not just a rock salt applicator. also, it is most assuredly mixed with some level of abrasive (sand) and other de-icing agents
the end result is, outside of lower mainland BC, Alberta cars are some of the best in Canada for long term condition(yes a broad generalization, but fairly accurate)
