I would say it looks like the great state of NY loves the salt too.
LOL. Oh Colin, shut down again.

Also, sand is used in AB instead of salt because at the lowest temps that they see out there, the salt becomes ineffective.

Yeah, those frequent Chinooks really makes things cold eh

So why is it that Sask and MB use salt, yet they are far colder?

Are you actually suggesting that Northern Alberta, is ...warm? as in so much noticeably warmer than Sask, and Man. in the winter that it can "get away" without using road salt?

when have you last left lotus land?

I mean, not during an unusual warming period, but during an average January of February? it is really fucking cold there...a lot.

also, the other mentioned provinces would employ a brine system, and not just a rock salt applicator. also, it is most assuredly mixed with some level of abrasive (sand) and other de-icing agents

the end result is, outside of lower mainland BC, Alberta cars are some of the best in Canada for long term condition(yes a broad generalization, but fairly accurate)

back to our blizzard, and a plow going by spreading massive amounts of...yep, salt...

Exactly why I keep the E30 garaged until it rains and the salt washes away.
