I don't think this is true. Just look at most shitty little kids, and look at their parents. you can tell exactly why they are like that. you only get out of them what you put into them.
and being nice doesn't make you a good parent..Comment

Yeah he is just bumming that he lives with his parents at age 40.
I am always amazed at some peoples tempers in situations like that though. THey are having a bad day or week and then something so little pops their top and they go King Kong on everybodyYour signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment

This. I have an ex friend that is, for lack of a better term, a complete fuck. His parents however, are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. His stepdad has given him everything and made him his number one priority, sacrificing a ton of his own life goals to provide for him. His mom is one of the most generous women I've ever met.
The dude is in his mid 20's, unemployed, lives at home and talks shit on everyone especially his parents. Acts like he's better than everyone else and acts like some big shot, self made rich person despite the fact that he still lives on an allowance from his parents. Constantly creates drama for the hell of it. Eventually we came to a falling out and later he tried to run me and another friend off the road in his car while we were on our motorcycles. Skimmed my friend's rear tire with his front bumper at 40mph causing a skid (friend didn't fall, was able to recover it. thank years of dirt biking experience for that) and blew past me, running the red light I was stopped at, in my lane within a few inches of clipping my leg.
Point is, his parents are too nice. They know what he does but he never gets more than a slap on the wrist from them. So he just continues acting that wayComment

To be honest, if I was already 21 and had my permit to carry, it could have went down like that.

I seriously hope you never get a permit to carry.
shooting someone for yelling at you is not acceptable, and I have a pretty low tolerance for douchebaggery. that is straight up murder.
anyhow... I USED to be surprised constantly by how dickish' people can be, I mean, how much harder must your life be trying to create drama with every interaction? I have seen people behave like little selfish children for less than no reason so much in the last 10 years or so especially that I now come to expect people to be assholes. it surprises me more when I meet someone who is polite and nice.Comment

Try not giving a shit. Showing emotion is a sign of weakness.

being a relatively difficult child for my parents growing up and being a father myself, i can say there is a lot that goes into being a good parent. you can be the nicest people in the world but if you don't raise your kids right, they will turn out to be assholes.
for example, as a parent, you need to be totally consistent with your kids. when you tell them something or give them a yes or no, you need to stick with it and never waffle.
it is really important to teach your kids to clean up their spilled milk from a young age. in the case of the op's 40 year old asshole, his parents have been cleaning up his messes since he was borne. why do you think he is living at home with mom and dad at his age? this is how kids often turn out in situations like this.
when my son was a baby, we never ran to his crib to pick him up when he started crying. we would change his diaper when it was dirty, feed him when he was hungry and thats it. sometimes you have to get used to a crying baby and have an understanding when they cry for a reason and not because they want attention.
when you are in a store, and the kid wants a toy or a piece of candy, its ok so say no to them. if they throw a tantrum, let them do so. be sure to point out to them how much they are embarrassing themselves and the fact that you can listen to their crap all day long. it might also be a good idea to let them know that when everyone gets home, they are going to get a good spanking. if you give in and buy them something after you already said no, the kid is training you and not the other way around. they are going to turn out like said 40 year old asshole from the beginning of this thread.
i had the good fortune to be raised by a father who was very consistent with me. he basically gave me a window in which i could operate. he made it very clear what that window was. when i stepped outside of that widow i got an ass beating (which i deserved).
as a result of this, i raised my son the same way. i only spanked him one time during his entire childhood. i think he was 3 years old. it was because he threw a temper tantrum in a store because i told him i would not buy him candy. i never had to lay a hand on him again after that. from that time on, when he would ask for something, he would never ask again or give me any grief if i said no. i am biased, but i have to say my 20 year old boy has grown up from a really good kid to really good young man.Last edited by flyboyx; 01-24-2014, 08:14 AM.sigpic

I was talking pretty hypothetically at that point, but i admit I worded it pretty poorly. Had he started throwing punches or pulling out a weapon is a different story though.Last edited by jhaurimn; 01-24-2014, 05:23 AM.Current:
