If they make some sort of 'modified car' law, it will most likely be used to pull over civics and integras. Modded E30s cruise under the cop radar (even with a roll bar and fixed shell)
That seems to make more sense. Stereotype towards BMW owners maybe.
Haha, is that for real? Seems like a spoof. I grew up in so-cal and whenever cops asked me what was done to my 2002 I would pop the hood and show them my "stock" motor with dual webers and everything! bitches!
Yep.....all that chit you saw on the video is true. Depending on where you live in this state, law enforcement is really cracking down on modified cars that they deem are 'for street racing purposes.' In the last few months, there has been several street racing related accidents in my area....two of the most recent ones have involved at least one fatality. Its always the same scenario too: two cars racing down a surface street, weaving in & out of traffic. And as soon as the local media gets word of the accident, its spammed all over the airways. Of course, when you start to listen to the story itself, the incident always involves a japanese make car.....these make up most of the wrecks in street racing. The american muscle is the other type of vehicle most often involved. Usually the driver & passengers are in the 18-25 age range.
Now compare these 'street racers' to my E30. My car is all stock appearance-wise with the exception of a lowered ride-height (about 1.5" lower than stock), 15x7 euro-weaves which retains the factory look, and polished exhaust tips from my Stromung. Granted, the exhaust does make noise but if I up-shift at low revs I'm ok. The car lacks stickers, window tint, spoilers, lense upgrades, aftermarket guages, and I keep my front plate on all the time. Open the engine hood and its all factory, right down to the airbox. The only 'performance' upgrade here is my IE strut bar. Taking all this into consideration, I have never been pulled over for driving a suspicious looking car (and my last three cars have been similarly modified E30s). I do think that law enforcement is focusing their efforts on your typical Fast & Furious related cars (mainly jap marques). However, if you clad your E30 with import tuning inspired mods....and you know what I'm talking about....you are destined to get nailed here.

you guys should move to Canada, the only law we have for cars is front plates. Either that or if you have a truck thats been jacked up 15". Also if we've learned one thing, don't put decals on your car.
Hahahahahaha... so who's up for an expensive road trip through California? I can think of a feeeeeeeeeew things that won't pass on my car. :)
"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."
One part of me wants to just laugh and be happy that more ricers will get pulled over and ticketed for the stupid bullshit they do to their cars.
Then the other part of me wants to bitch-slap every CHP that wastes the 15 minutes it takes to pull some kid over in his dumped Civic just to ticket him for "illegal" exhaust and intake modifications. Spend some more time going after drug dealers and child molestors instead.
If someone is actually caught in the act of street racing, then by all means go ahead and ticket them for everything possible while you have proof that all their "illegal modifications" are meant for what you accuse them of doing. But to me, as long as the car can still pass emissions during regular state inspections, leave them alone.
