One of the more common swaps I've seen is running a Datsun A series motor and transmission in one. The A series is more or less a better version of the Spridget motor with a good number of performance parts for not a whole lot of $ The two motors even look nearly identical.

Oh it drives awesome. I love it. Could use more torque, but as long as I'm not towing it's fine.

Working on a solution to that, whether is be diesel (M57, OM606) or forced induction (Eaton). I guess now that I'm stuck with it I may as well upgrade it.

True. I hear with a OM617 injection pump they're good for gobs of power, and you can boost the shit out of them.

For now I'm sitting in the pit of despair sourcing parts to get the LT230 swapped in so I can drive it again. I think I toasted my rear axle as well. Oh well, I have a Disco parts frame, but someone got the front driveshaft. :/

Yeah but I drifted my rover across a food lion parking lot because it's rwd now lol. It was fun despite no 4x4. Still has the height and weight to drive through it

Yes. I think I can hear the chain rattling around in there sometimes. The center diff is locked up, so it's kinda like having a welded diff, only on all four wheels. Something happened and popped, I may have snapped an axle shaft in the rear. Drive it to my parents and left it, waiting on the ground to freeze so I can get it on the lift.

Need to get a spud shaft and D1 front driveshaft and I can bolt up my LT230 and be done.

Last inspection was thru 1987, tags expired in 1986. Been sitting in the basement of this building since then. Needs a new top, + whatever, but I'd tonneau it and done.

Guy won't give me a $$$$, but I'm thinking of walking up with eight hundo in 20s and demanding the title, leaving three hundo in my pocket. Muah hahaha.
