It's funny, non-Californians think California is the place to be, and deluded Californians think California is the place to be, but real people that are not caught up in the appearance game of trying to be conceived as cool don't give a fuck about that hellhole. I truly don't think I could ever go back after being a Native, multigenerational Californian. I guess it's just different strokes for different folks.
Hey guy moving to El Centro, there are many better places in this country than the vortex of fake that California represents.Comment

As much as I'd love to live in CA for the weather, I don't think I could ever live there. At least from what I can observe, it seems like people care way too much about how much you make and how many nice (ie, expensive) things you have, and I cannot stand that mindset. And I still cannot figure out how the fuck anyone can afford to live there. From what I can see, real estate is at least 2-3x more expensive compared to where I live, but wages aren't 2-3x higher. How does that work? I honestly just don't get it.Comment

It doesnt work. I think figures in LA were 1/3 of monthly income goes to housing. I believe that rate is rising also. We have the worst income/housing expense ratio. As much as I'd love to live in CA for the weather, I don't think I could ever live there. Good idea, stay out of CA and tell all your friends that too. I'm tired of east coast transplants in CA (I also married one).As much as I'd love to live in CA for the weather, I don't think I could ever live there.
