i work at a VW dealership, and they give a brochure type deal with everynew GTi and on the back of it is a sticker, called the brokometer, it's the exact same size with the spedo pegged at 40, in laymens terms (i can't remember how they worded it) the sticker is to be placed over your spedo, so if you get pulled over you can say that your spedo is broken........

smart idea if you ask me......

and oh yeah, no more fast and furious movies
I agree that it encourages some of this behavior, but it did not require FnF to get me to drive the every living shit out of anything on wheels.

I'm 21. I'm statistically still in the worst driver category I could be in. On a daily basis, I drive a car that has more performance potential that a fair number of the cars on the road, but I do not drive like a moron. I don't speed around town, or even really fuck off on the back roads. I've been there, done it, and its not worth it. I can spend 100$ to go to a track, or 30 to go to an autocross, learn more, and have a better time.

Bottom line of this - people need to take responsibility for their actions. If the VW commercial made someone drive fast, then our society has serious serious problems. People don't see the VW commercial and want to drive fast, they want to drive fast, then see the VW commercial, and then buy the car.

The real problem is our countries unwillingness to create safe and legal places for "kids" to drag race, or more autox sites, or more race tracks. Cars have been entwined with American history since the automobile was conceived; why would there be an expecation for that to change? Build race tracks, encourage safe racing habbits. its just like sex ed. Preaching abstinance is worthless; kids are going to fuck like rabbits no matter what you tell them. Teach them to wrap it up, get on bc, ect. and problems begin to diminish. Too bad our country has not entirely caught onto that.

The Fast is stupid. I wish they would put it inside that Focus in the "unpimp zee auto" commercial.

Fuck yes. I JUST saw it on TV no more than 10 minutes ago. Very appropriate.

I think the whole subject has been taken too seriously to be honest. I thought it was a pretty humorous campaign...in the same way Mini's was.

Regardless of the commercials intents, they have generated some buzz marketing, and I personally get a kick out of them. I can relate to the commercial that is the "my fast like the windows down".

This is a change from the "da-da-da".

The most recent maxim issue has a "fast" ad with a peel out sticker that says 18 miles per hour. Sure, no ones stupid enough to do something like that, but it is rather amusing.

Already knew that. The commercials are still funny as shit. Besides, those are the other ones.

I agree with the windows down. I keep mine down... always.

You can't knock "da-da-da." Microsoft was hip enough to parody that.

Josh, they're the best commericals in the land. I was just trying to point out how stupid it is to debate about comericals and the fast.

The best part of that commercial is when he interrupts his girlfriend and says, "Honey? It's kind of hard to listen to the engine with all that yappin..."

God only knows how many times I've wanted to say that to my wife...

americans take the "freedom", not privelege, to drive for granted and do not like to take in it any responsibility or desire to drive safely. commericals such as this only play to this thread of our existence, and encourages it. if people only realized how deadly driving was, and how much risk they were flinging themselves into, maybe driving would have more respect given to it, instead of the assumption it now is at.

i'm glad you take your privelege, and quite capable/endangering car with respect. an sport evo deserves nothing less than a driver who is appreciative of the danger but also joy driving can bring. especially when i'm so shitcanned.
