Quoted for truth. I find no reason to stress about this. It's not a major problem and looking back will make the journey even more memorable.

Thanks for the kind words guys. The picture are only from my iphone so the the resolution is pretty terrible.

Got the old part out. Had to unbolt the alternator and it was all out in about 5 minutes. Assuming the part on order is correct I'll be back up and running in no time.

Well theres your problem...bearing overheated and blew out.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear you can buy just the pulley for the mechanical tensioner either. Lame.

Atleast I've got a nice place to stay. Good swimming pool and hot tub and free breakfast. All they had was a two bed room suite so they gave it to me cheap and it's right on the end and my car is tucked in a corner so I wont be in anyones way to work on it.

Thankfully it wasn't the timing belt that broke! Thanks for sharing the story - good stuff right here. You should submit these pics for the 2015 calendar (may be too low-def though). Good luck with the rest of the trip!

Could not have asked for a better turnout of events, if something goes wrong with your car on the road!

Thanks man! It blew up seriously one corner away from entering the gorge which we had to drive through anyways to get turned around. This town weird and I hope I scare some people.

i have a couple roommates from st george. its a bunch of mormon people but they're all old as fuck so you should be able to outrun them on foot if it gets ugly. if you go to the walmart in st george its infested with polygamists since colorado city, the largest polygamist settlement in the world, is pretty close to st george. good luck fixing the car, and have fun driving through the gorge on your way to vegas. it's a very winding and fun road for a little bit. after that little fun bit though its barren wasteland til vegas.

by the way i enjoyed your pics on the million dollar highway in colorado. i used to go to the street rod nationals with my grandparents in pueblo and we would cruise that canyon road every year in their 47 mercury. unbelievable scenery down there.
