The first brown one, I cannot tell exactly. Maybe with a few more photos I could have a shot at identifying it, but I have to admit it looks to be a member of a family that I am not very familiar with.
The second black one is definitely a member of the family Gnaphosidae, also called a "ground spider." My guess is that is is also a member of the genus Zelotes, though I could easily be wrong about that. I think species of this family, and especially this genus, are super cool. You can tell a Gnaphosidae by its silk spinnerets which are shaped like a beer can; I am not aware of another group of spiders that has this characteristic.
I hadn't looked at this thread for a few weeks, and I gotta say, for a bunch of presumably macho car guys there is a lot of childish arachnophobia. I'm hoping that it is mostly in jest because spiders are not only harmless to humans they also eat many insects that you'd probably want in your house even less. So keep them around if you can, and take them outside if you must, but try not to kill them. They are amazing creatures and if you take the time to see them as such, can be (almost) as beautiful as any E30.sigpicComment

The crushed one was killed before I got there, she said it looked the same as the big brown first one. The internet says brown recluse, but it's lacking the violin and the 6 eyes. Same girl, different house, they killed all the spiders inside and out and within a week they were completely swamped with flying bugs. Moths chewed into ALL THEIR FOOD. It was pretty hilarious.
Interesting about Taco Bell, and fast food in general, I'm on a diet and I end up eating fast food almost every day. Always salads or Wendy's finger chili or Taco Bell bowl things. I've lost 20 lbs! But I think it's from having constant diarrhea............Comment

my house is full of spiders. lol. in the garage, I can't leave my car windows open overnight or there'll be webs in the morning. thankfully, the spiders around here are pretty much harmless and not scary at all.
on the plus side, I rarely, if ever see any bugs. :pComment

Own a reptile like a bearded dragon for a couple years... the fears of spiders/creepy crawlies go away after a while. ;)
My tripophobia gets set off more than actual fear of spiders if I think about it.

this scares me a lot more... the brown recluse that hangs around outside is the homie.

Wow, could have done without knowing about tripophobia.
Nando, do you by chance live close to water?
I don't think that brown spider is a brown recluse, especially if the eye shot is of the same one. There are definitely eight eyes there.
The best website for information on the Brown Recluse, including how to identify them, is probably the one run by Rick Vetter at UC Riverside.
