At my parent's house the one toilet is in the far corner from the septic tank and consequently, has a very flat running pipe that clogs really easily...

yes there is such a thing as upflush, but last time I checked most septic and sewer systems are also BELOW GRADE, and usually deeper much deeper than the basement of the house so gravity still applies ( I used to instal municipal sewer systems yes the guy out in the middle of your street with it all torn up from curb to curb and end to end)

I resort to using the plunger about 90% of the time and it's not like im rocking the boat here. So if I'm short on time, I have to take into consideration how long I'll have to act like a plumber to make sure I'm not late.

Come to my town, where the lights never, ever turn green. There are skeletons in Duesenburgs waiting for a left turn green. A full cycle can take 5 minutes at a four lane x four lane intersection. Crosswalk times are set for centenarian pedestrians with walkers and no particular place to go. The lights are rarely synchronized, so one long wait is usually followed by another.

Now, I don't mind if some Granny who flew Liberators across the North Atlantic is crossing in front of me - I respect my elders - but when there's nobody there and the default cycle is set for Great-Granny and my E30 is demonstrating how little it likes to idle I get sort of impatient.

I like Ogdensburg, where the lights go "You! Now! And stop. Now You! Next, get moving!" NY Granny can push a button for the slow change, and we all burn less gas, pollute less, etc. /rant.

When the town I live near, has changed many the traffic light cycles around 11pm to a Turn green to back to red cycle that you can not get though the intersection form a dead stop before it turns red again, unless you are launching a sub 10sec car like its for pinks. Not all intersections, just the main ones that are 2 lanes a left and right turn lane. We only have a few lights in town 20ish or so (never really counted them up ) all of them have really short yellows now all the time, but the main ones are set up impossibly short.
