I've been encountering that scenario but with a "new" engine. Ends up being a shitty rebuild of the original.

I was selling something on CL once and had "FIRM price" in the listing. Some dude tried to haggle me over email anyway, and when I told him that firm meant firm he sent me some badly written diatribe about how it is "customary" to barter on CL. It was actually pretty lulzy because his name was Sanjeep or something and I could imagine his voice as I read his long email explaining to me how CL works.
Other than that, as a buyer it it insane how many listings have no mileage, tranny info or, particularly annoying, stock photos from (presumably) marketing material rather than photos of the actual car being sold.Comment

Take fucking pictures.
Not one picture. Many. There are many aspects to a car that should be considered.
Don't cover your plate with your thumb, paper, cardboard, penis, whatever. It's stupid.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

Oh man that's annoying. Even worse is taking a pic at night out of their house window of a car 100 feet away!!
But not too many pics!! There's no use to have 20 pics of the seats god damn it!! If you can't show an entire car in the 12-24 pics standard then you're an idiot.Last edited by Navarone; 11-14-2014, 01:58 PM.Comment

Okay, in california at least the seller is responsible for smog. So many ads in craigslist say, "all it needs is to pass smog". = It won't pass smog, I'll tell you it will, you won't know that till you buy it, I have plenty of other people who will buy this car that will gladly figure that out for themselves.
