Car Tumbles Off Mulholland Drive; 8 Injured

(AP) SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. Eight people were injured early Friday morning, two critically, when the vehicle they were riding in plunged some 200 feet over the side of a cliff on Mulholland Drive near Sherman Oaks.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Ron Myers says the vehicle tumbled to the bottom of the cliff at around 2:20 a.m.

He says two of the injured people were able to walk back to the road, but the other six remain stranded below.

Helicopters are aiding an urban search and rescue team that's been called to the scene to rescue the injured people from the bottom of the cliff.

Traffic is moving slowly on Mulholland Drive while crews complete the rescue operations.

Darwin's law did not work this time

They went down a cliff 250 feet in a Nissan Sentra -- eight kids in the car, two in the trunk -- and most of them walked away
