No, we wouldn't work for the same company. If I'm right the bike shop I work for orders bikes from the company he works for.

We don't do beach cruisers. I handle all the wholesale shipments and I'm never more than 1 day behind.

Ehh not specifically for the job. I wanted to move to SoCal and this job fell into place.

Lots of talks around the office lately. It's known that I'll leave if he stays. I'm told the issues will be "fixed". Not 100% sure what that means but I'm going to give it a week and see what unfolds.

        Little update:

Homeboy hasn't been fired, or really even reprimanded any further. All that's changed is they took away the ability to manually enter hours...thats it. Oh and starting tomorrow, he's being "temporarily demoted" so that him and myself are equal and whoever demonstrates the best leadership will gain the title of warehouse manager ...so I have to compete for my job with this lying, dishonest dickbag who for 3 years has proved he has no real worth? Unbelievable. I've spent the last two days scouring the local area for similar work and sending my resume out. Nope, no thanks, I'm out.

have you considered this is a dog and pony show to allow T crossing and I dotting before hes shown the door, and the job is yours anyway??? I have seen similar things go on while a more complete and convincing dossier is compiled to with stand any legal challenges and make denial of a Unemployment Insurance claim (for theft and getting fired for gross misconduct) much easier to deal with. Especially when you have shit head like this thats going to be majorly butthurt about termination and fight everything tooth and nail.

I am not saying to not continue to seek greener pastures, but you might want to seek consult with your boss and see what the winds of change might be bringing before you jump ship

              ^^^What Sleeve said.

When I was in a management position there were a few fuckwits that I couldn't seem to get rid of no matter what stupid shit they pulled. I finally had a blunt conversation with the GM about these winners and he told me that they are well on their way out the door but he wanted to make sure that he could protect the company from unemployment claims or any other blowback.

Or, if it's anything like the bike distribution warehouse I used to work for, it's full of precious snowflakes. This may just be managements way of providing a wake-up call to this boreass and give him another chance.

This does happen. With my present company a new role of regional VP was created underneath the current regional President. Our region has been rife with issues and favoritism from the top down. The new guy was hired by corporate without even interviewing with his new "boss". What will happen is once the new guy is up to speed, the old guy will be gone. It works as a transition/probationary period. Not saying you shouldn't bail, but be aware that larger plans may be in process.

Very good point and I have thought about it. I'm meeting with my boss tomorrow to discuss this issue as well as others. I really can't see myself staying at this point though. The commute is too long and among other issues, it's not really what I was hoping for.

There is a load of CYA required in California and documentation is the most important. We had an employee of an entity our company managed (note, we didn't hire them, the corporation we were contracted with did the hiring) who was no-showing, looking at pr0n, being late, etc. The corporation told us to fire them for all those offenses. Now he filed a wrongful termination lawsuit and won. Now we are facing the heat because as the agent for the corporation, we didn't document this stuff enough. It is such a mess in California.

don't jump ship too quickly OP. I've been in your shoes b4 and while it sucks, at least it's a job where you know what is what.

I'd say hold out until you find something that REALLY suits you. Dont' feel like your being pushed out the door, because your not. Your the only one who can control how you act and react to what's happening around you.

I'm not, need to find something first. I don't want to burn through my savings to not have a job. I may honestly leave socal when my lease is us, it's not really my kind of place honestly. So I might stick it out a few more months.
