VW Touareg?? Nah X5 or MDX

My wife kind of adopted the Suburban from me and we were thinking about a smaller suv not a crossover

I have been looking at X5's with the M54 or N52 but I also have always liked touareg's but don't know if they are crap? I assume the V8 is audi's 4.2 are they direct injection? what about the V6?

Got a friend locally that may be persuaded to let his V6 TDI model go. PM me your number and I'll pass it on to him, not sure if he's looking to get rid of it just yet but he might.

Don't do it, I was a VW tech for 3 years when they were all running out of their warranties. They break down a lot and parts are expensive since it's all Porsche stuff. Brakes alone were a $2-3000 repair.

Go for a Tiguan, they're a bit smaller but way more reliable and cheaper to own.

We bought a used 2005 MDX and could not be happier. Previously my wife and I drove a VW Jetta TDI, Cabrio and a New Beetle convertible which are all gone. Dealer support, dealer maintenance prices, and constant annoying unreliability - we are done with VW.

                ^ Wow

Full brake job on my Cayenne Turbo costs $800 in parts and takes all of about 90 minutes for me to do.

Someone is paying outrageous prices for that VW brake job.

                    I figured they were problematic

Probably just keep the suburban considering it has cost me pennies to maintain and repair since i ve owned it

The tfsi's are good, stay away from the fsi's though. I don't remember if Tiguans ever came with the fsi, it would have been first year only if so.

This is true, I did have the FSI with the timing belt and terrible HPFP.

Had the 1 piece cam replaced, then still had to replace followers every 15k. Leaking fuel pumps diluting the hell out of my oil until my low oil pressure warning lit up while sitting.

I did hear that the TFSI corrected a lot of the issues and had a much improved fuel pump. Still, never again.

                            Well, yeah, they're Volkswagens.

Gonna get out of here now before the VW fanboys come in pelting me with their stories about how reliable and cheap their 1980s stanceboxes are :nice:
