I work for a company that buys and resells electronic test equipment. They buy it, hand it to me, I figure out if or how it works, then they list it on sites like LabX, or sometimes they will hold an EBay auction, or sell it on their own webpage:

I do wiring harnesses and DME hacking.. but my big "side job" is teaching as an adjunct professor. There was some sort of teacher strike last year and they ended up getting raises. I got $6500 for 1 quarter of teaching this year (it started at $3k or something originally).

If you work it out, it only amounts to like $10-15 an hour because of the amount of time I put into prep work - but having that on my resume is priceless, plus I get to learn stuff and meet new people. I might end up expanding to two classes next year - and at some point if I did enough hours, I could qualify for state employee benefits and retirement.

I probably only make about 5 harness adapters a year, but I don't even advertise. It just pays for the odd E30 part here and there. I'd do more, but I just don't have the time/energy to keep up. I do an MSS54/52 flash here and there as well, and I'm currently balls deep in the E60/E90 generation of computers.

other than that, I don't even have time for my own projects - so taking on somebody else's work is pretty much never going to happen..

Current side jobs are selling extra parts from a local BMW shop on Ebay, and occasionally I will still DJ the odd club or rave, though not nearly as much as when I lived in the midwest.

I let this woman sleep in my bed. She pays me 6 grand a year to do so and she buys the groceries, packs my lunch, and cooks my dinner. She also gives me a pretty good bj whenever I ask.

            It's a pretty sweet gig.
