Check out what some of our boys overseas did to their helicopter.
Some Afghan is probably freaking out right about now.
The story is: this very special Mi-24 helicopter is presently flying inAfghanistan , where it is no doubt causing quite a stir. God Bless the U.S.A.

Got this in an email. I am no military aircraft expert but isn't this a Russian helicopter?

That looks like a Soviet Mi-24. maybe capture from an enemy airbase? and re-used by our forces.

I doubt we would capture their units (as we are not at war with them) and certainly we would not use one we "acquired" for any length of time as I doubt we are buying spare parts from them. Seems odd to me.

the us has been using soviet hardware for years, our SF guys train with AKs (and everything else), and the air force has had migs/hinds/etc all throughout the cold war. Some of have been spotted at 'area 51'

I have no clue about that pictured thing, although I'd HIGHLY doubt an American crew was flying combat operations in a rusky bird. Perhaps they are the "coalition" representatives from some ex-wolf pac member and they had some spare paint?
