Baiting the lion to leave the refuge so it could be killed by dragging meat behind a truck. Yeah, that's some real manly stuff right there. This guy gives no fucks about what he did and is only trying to cover his own ass because he got caught. I hope he is deported to Zimbabwe to stand trial for poaching, along with the assclown guides he paid all that money to.

Fuck him, and fuck bullshit sport hunting. I say this as someone that fully supports game hunting, at least so long as it concerns shooting non-endangered animals and actually eating them when you are done. Hunting is fun, but you owe it to the animal to end its life as quickly as possible, and to make use of it as best you can. Pop a deer, butcher it and mount the head on your wall, that's fine since you ate it. Pricks like this that are only after a trophy are pathetic. I feel badly for the lion, particularly because Dr. Smallcock wounded it with a bolt and then spent 40 hours chasing it until he was far enough from the preserve to shoot it with a gun without raising suspicions.

This lion was familiar with humans and probably walked right up to this guy thinking it was another day in the park. Instead it got wounded with a poorly aimed crossbow bolt and chased down for nearly 2 days. At the very least I hope that this guy suffers financial ruin and lives the remainder of his life in shame, hopefully making other people that share his hobby think twice. It would be better if he was convicted on criminal charges, although there's obviously a big jurisdiction issue here and his chances of being extradited are basically zero.

I'm not being an ass at all. I'm just surprised that for someone who truly hates government everything and has, on multiple occasions, advocated for a very laissez-faire, wild-west approach to governance, that he now seems to be standing strongly behind government rules & regs is somewhat odd.

Normally yes your right, but this is one of those places where some intervention is not just helpful but necessary, as with out that the wildlife populations would be decimated and there would be little to no game in a few short generations. Thats not good for maintaining a balanced ecosystem for both wild life populations and in the long run our survival.

Yes I know I am getting a bit off the tracks here, but trying to drive home the point that just because some dont like the practice of hunting at all be it for sport/consumption/or the despised trophy hunters. There is normally a very good reason for its continued practice. It helps to maintain a far more stable balance between predator and prey animals as well as available food sources from over feeding thereby keeping the ecosystem in general more diverse and healthy as well... In Africa much of the high cost to get a tag is poured right back into conservation, and IIRC a lot of the funding for the preserves and parks come out of the astronomical fees for tags and permits to hunt in African nations... Not to mention the income it pours into local economies that host hunters from around the world, its a win win, where a lot of income is generated for the locals and conservation efforts, and what should be a well studied management plan is put into place......

Yes the guide first and foremost should have his balls nailed to a tree, the outfitter that employed him should be under serious review and not escape with out appropriate actions taken based on knowledge and involvement . As it was these 2 entities that bare the brunt of the responsibility and is their PRIMARY job to assure a safe and LEGAL hunt, 2edly is giving the guest hunter the best opertunity to fill the tag as they can LEGALLY..... The guest hunter should have at least had basic understanding of the general rules regarding his hunt, and put the skids on when shit started to go awry. As such he should not get off free clear either. 1st off is forfeiture of the trophy, 2ed permanent revocation of any hunting privileges in Zimbabwe (if other African nations wish to follow suit so be it) and a appropriate restitution and fine be levied (not to leave the man destitute but sufficient to deter others form making similar "mistakes")

Hunters and sportsmen are bigger conservationist than green peace. peta, and their ilk ever hope to be when it comes to ACTUALLY doing things and putting money where their mouth is to preserve, maintain, and protect wildlife and habitat, despite what all the other more "sensational" groups will try and have you believe. We want to keep it around for future generations to enjoy as much as we do....

My final thoughts on this until way more information comes out about the guest hunters actions and knowledge, is not FUCK this dentist from MN (not just yet), but shame on this guy, but FUCK the guide who orchestrated the hunt and threw the rules and ethics right out the window knowingly and willfully, deserves to have his balls nailed to a tree. Also when you pay a Guide service for a hunt its not just to guide you to the critters and in a strange land, but guide you though the LEGALITIES of that local as well. Have maintained the ethics here are iffy at best, even if it had been legal... Its the primary reason you hire a guide service and their primary job.....

A strange land indeed. Zimbabwe starts with a Zed but it's very close to first on the World List of Fucked Up Countries. It's an easy Google search to find out that the rules start and end with President for Life Mugabe, that even in Africa Zimbabwe is one of the poster children for the production of poster children.
